Former VFW commander
PINEVILLE – Services are Thursday for former state VFW Commander Bill Procter. He died Feb. 24 at age 83.
He was a retired U.S. Air Force member who served three tours in the Vietnam War. He worked many years for Ed Cheek Marine.
Survivors include several children.
Arrangements are by Hixson Bros.

Developer
BATON ROUGE – Services for developer Leonard LaPlace will be Wednesday. He died Feb. 23 at age 55.
He was a real estate developer, member of the Apartment Association and long-time member of the Board of Realtors.
Survivors include a son and several step-children.
Arrangements are by Greenoaks.

Teacher
JONESVILLE – Services for long-time educator Isaac “Ike” Robertson will be Wednesday. He died Feb. 24 at age 93.
He was a US Army Air Corps captain who piloted a B-17 for 30 missions over Europe during World War II. He taught agriculture, chemistry and physics in a long career at Block High.
Survivors include three daughters.
Arrangements are by Hixson Bros., Jena.

First female editor at La. Tech
RUSTON – Services for Blanche Joiner Burkhalter, first female editor of Louisiana Tech student newspaper, were Feb. 19 in Houston, Texas. She died Feb. 13 at age 91.
She was an English teacher in many cities over her working life.
Survivors include a daughter.
