Child welfare expert
ALEXANDRIA – Services for child welfare expert Louise Bradford will be Thursday. She died March 10 at age 88.
She worked 30 years for the state Office of Community Services and was director of social services for St. Mary’s Training School for 22 years and director of foster parent training for Volunteers of America for eight years. She taught social work at Louisiana College for a decade.
She was part of President Lyndon Johnson’s White House Council on Children and wrote Louisiana’s initial day-care standards. As Region 6 Child Welfare Consultant she operated the state day-care facility in Natchitoches which piloted programs and was a training ground for social workers entering the field of child welfare.

Former principal
ST. MARTINVILLE – Services for retired principal Clifford Durand, Jr. will be Thursday. He died March 10 at age 84.
He was an educator for more than 30 years and was principal of Catahoula Elementary from 1965-1983. He was a recipient of the State Good Provider Award for 18 years of outstanding 4-H leadership.
Survivors include his wife Suzanne and five children.
Arrangements are by Pellerin.
Hospital CEO
ALEXANDRIA – Services for medical executive Tracy Griffin will be Thursday. He died March 7 at age 42.
He was a Louisiana National Guard veteran of Desert Storm. He was a surgery nurse before eventually becoming CEO of Crossroads Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his several children.
Long-time county agent
BREAUX BRIDGE – Services for former county agent Stephen Guilbeau will be Thursday. He died March 10 at age 90.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a county agent for 30 years, serving Avoyelles and St. Martin Parishes.
Survivors include his wife Iris, four sons and two daughters.
