
LAKE CHARLES ~ Patricia “Pat” Smith Granger, 75, of Lake Charles, LA died peacefully, surrounded by her daughters, on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Harbor Hospice Palliative Care Facility after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
Pat was born on May 7, 1940 in Welsh, LA. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. She loved her Monday night Bourré games that she played for about forty years. She also enjoyed going to Las Vegas, camping at Holly Beach with her family, reading, crocheting, needlepoint, cooking for her family, and teaching her girls how to preserve fruits and vegetables.
Mrs. Granger is survived by her five daughters, Lisa LeJeune (Timmy) of Mermentau, Marla Granger (Shelly Smith) of Lake Charles, Rhonda Granger (Bridgette Hunter) of Moss Bluff, Tricia Richard (Tad) of Eunice, and Kyla Thibodeaux (David) of Westlake; seven brothers and sisters, Rod Smith (Bonnie) of Mermentau, J.P. Smith (Marie) of Jennings, Sandra Tarou (I.J.) of Sulphur, Diane Mouton (Mike) of Estherwood, Martha Farmer of Lake Charles, Steve Smith (Floy), and Tony Smith (Adrienne) of Estherwood; eleven grandchildren, Joshua LeJeune (Lex), Brandon LeJeune, Jessica Joseph (James), Bethany LeJeune, John “Colin” Smith, Danielle, Katie, Thaddeus “Drew” and Kelli Richard, Kinsley and Grant Thibodeaux; four great-grandchildren, Aviana and Ariana LeJeune, Kaylen Romero and Hunner Joseph; God-children, Jason Smith, Kent Tarou, Scott LaFargue and Hannah Daigle Leger; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that were her extended family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty years, Dewey “Buddy” Granger; mother, Dorine DuPont Smith; father, Jennings Smith; brother, Larry Smith; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Azalea and Dewey Granger; grandparents, Ignace and Sylvania Dupont, sister-in-law, Pat Smith, brother-in-law, Philip Farmer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Christine Granger, nephew, Hunter Granger; and great-niece, Shelby Granger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Lake Charles. Father Randall Moreau will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA on Wednesday from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Divine Mercy service at 5:00 pm and a rosary at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:00 am to 10:40 am.
Pallbearers for the service will be Joshua and Brandon LeJeune, Thaddeus “Drew” Richard, Jason Smith, Scott LaFargue, and Kent Tarou. Honorary pallbearers will be John “Collin” Smith, Kraig Tarou, and Stuart and Whitney Daigle.
