Deedy Manuel McGee

EUNICE~Deidre Denise “Deedy” Manuel McGee passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her residence in Lafayette at the age of 56. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Father Henry Broussard officiating.
Deidre known to many as “Deedy” was a native of Eunice and was a 1977 graduate of St. Edmund’s High School, where she excelled in tennis. She received her nursing degree from LSU-E and had worked as a registered nurse at hospitals in Opelousas, Lafayette, New Orleans and Greenville, South Carolina. She was an avid Saints and Tigers fan.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald “Tee” McGee; a daughter, Lauren Rice and a son Nick Rice, both of the Carolinas; her parents, Allen and Georgie Manuel of Eunice; two sisters, Cindi Detraz of Eunice and Alicia Manuel of Gulf Breeze, Florida; two brothers, Jaime Manuel of Eunice and Joel Manuel of Baton Rouge; eight nieces and nephews; aunt, Margaret McGee Fels of Baton Rouge; uncles, Pat McGee of Eunice and Michael McGee of Sulphur and all of her McGee and Gotreaux cousins.
Preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Cecelia and Artemon “Temon” Manuel and her maternal grandparents, Ruth and Percy McGee.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, May 23rd from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am Friday morning.
Family requests that memorial donations be made to charity of givers choice.

Audrey Brown

EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Audrey Claire Brown announces her passing on Monday, May 26, 2014 at the age of 3. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father John Brown Celebrant.
Audrey was born on February 21, 2011, she is the beloved daughter of Will and Tracey Brown of Natchez, MS; little sister to William Bruce Brown of Natchez, MS; paternal granddaughter to Robert and Jennifer Brown of Eunice; maternal granddaughter to Karen Aucoin of Eunice and Andre Aucoin of Lafayette; maternal great granddaughter to John and Dorothy Verzwyvelt of Scott and Lindsey and Beverly Aucoin of Eunice; paternal great granddaughter to Bruce and Judy Brown of Cheneyville and William Gwinn Gillette of Eunice; as well as her godfather, godmother, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Precious memories will be loved and missed by everyone whose hearts she touched.
She now rests in Heaven with her beloved maternal great grandmother, Mary Jo Aucoin and her paternal great grandmother, Belle Quirk Gillette.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, May 28th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Thursday, May 29th from 9:00 am until time of services. Father John Brown will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening.

Anna Aguillard Courville died on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the age of 93.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home in Eunice. Pastor Alvin Ogea will officiate. Burial will follow at Chataignier Baptist Cemetery in Chataignier.
Survivors include one son, Andy Courville and wife Darlene of Eunice; one daughter, Deborah DeRouen and husband Mark of Eunice; 13 grandchildren;28t great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dewey Courville; her parents, Sidney Aguillard and Melissa Manuel Aguillard; two sons, Charles Courville and Sidney Paul Courville; one daughter, Gwen Maxfield; five brothers, Albert Aguillard, Jessie Aguillard, Wilfred Aguillard, Franklin Aguillard, and Hamilton Aguillard; two sisters, Nazie Fontenot and Helen Stevens; and one grandson, Phillip Courville.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Saturday for visitation until the time of service.

Mildred Pearl Veillon Manuel died at the age 83 on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest House in Church Point.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Father Clinton Sensat will be celebrant.
Survivors include her children, Phyllis Bergeron and husband Gerald of Eunice, Bradley Manuel and Mary Chesley of Mamou, Stephanie Reed and Greg Reed of Eunice, Joseph Manuel, Sr and Cheryl Broussard of Eunice, Mitchell Manuel and wife Cindy of Breaux Bridge, Renee Manual and Mark Prather of Church Point, and daughter-in-law Berna Dean Manuel of Mamou; sister, Lou Ella Blanchard; 17 grandchildren,28 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and also numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie R. Manuel; her parents, Sava and Elma Chapman Veillon; son, Bradford Manuel I; granddaughter, Toby Manuel; grandson, Bradford Manuel II; brother Joseph Wedney Veillon; daughter-in-law, Dana Sue Manuel.
Mildred donated her body to the Tulane Medical Center.

Jacob Paul Courville died on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the age of 22.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home in Eunice. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery in Eunice. Pastor Dennis Gotreaux will officiate.
Survivors include his parents, Jessie J. Courville of Eunice and Helen Marie Fontenot of Eunice; five brothers, Joshua Courville of Eunice, Johnathon Courville of Eunice, Justin Courville of Eunice, Noah Courville of Eunice, and Matthew Courville of Eunice; and two sisters, Jessica Lynn C. Fontenot of Eunice and Heather Marie Courville of Eunice.
Visitation will be Monday, June 2, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, for visitation until time of service.

Joshua 'June' Lejeune, Enduring Freedom vet, accident victim

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2014, time pending at Melancon Funeral Home in Opelousas for Joshua Joseph "June" Lejeune, age 24, who died Friday, May 30, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette follwing a traffic accident on La. 13 south of Eunice.
Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
He was a lifelong resident of Opelousas. He was employed as a diesel mechanic and more recently as a landscaper, which was a hobby of his. He was also an excellent artist. Mr. Lejeune was a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq in 2010, having served in the Army National Guard in Delta Co 3-156.
Survivors include his parents, Kenneth Lejeune and the former Phyllis Fontenot, of Opelousas; maternal grandmother, Yvonne Fontenot of Eunice; two sisters, Natasha Marie Lejeune of Port Barre and Megan Sue Lejeune of Opelousas; two nephews, Ayden Lane and Ian Lane Pickett; and one niece, Aubree Marie Pickett.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edward Fontenot, Sr.; and paternal grandparents, Wilbert Lejeune and the former Emily Broussard.
A rosary was prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Visitation is open until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Lane Pickett, Nick Lebert, Darrell Williams, Eddie Fontenot, Lionel Lafleur and Dylan Lejeune. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Lejeune, Donald Kernan, Allen Jones, Kent Fontenot, Edward Fontenot, Jr., Michael Fontenot and Brent Fontenot.

Mary Ruth Cole Stout died on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at the age of 79. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery in Eunice.
Survivors include one son, Jay Berza & wife Liz of Eunice, LA; one daughter, Karen Ann Berza of Eunice, LA; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Charles B. Cole and Carrie Dallas Cole; her husband, Earl Stout; one son, Allen Lee Berza; one brother, Raymond Cole.

Albert 'Spider' Dupre

Albert “Spider’’ Dupre, Sr., 79, will be on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am with funeral services following at 11:00 am, both at New Zion Baptist Church, 251 Nimitz St., Eunice, LA. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery under the direction of Reverend Allen W. Ben.
Dupre died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 4:47 pm at Acadia Medical Center in Eunice.
He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He was chairman of the Deacon Board, member of the Male Chorus and a member of the finance committee.
Survivors include: his wife, Lillie Mae Dupre of Eunice; nine sons: John Dupre, Albert Dupre, Jr., Charley Dupre, Joseph Dupre (Anshie), Lee Dupre (Rhonda), Frank J. Dupre, and Charley James Mckenzie (Christian) all of Eunice, David Dupre of Lake Charles, and Kevin Dupre (Sharon) of Oberlin; three daughters: Lena Mae Rougeau Dupre of Eunice, Linda Fay Dupre Gallow (Jermaine) of Lake Charles, and Chasity Lynn Semien (Kyle) of Abbeville; 57 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons: George Dupre, Marvin Dupre, and Johnny Alfred Dupre; one sister, Myrtle Stevens; three brothers: Charlie Dupre, Sr., Horace Dupre, Sr., and Alvin Dupre; his parents: John Dupre and Cassie Dupre.
Pallbearers will be: Pierre Dupre, Jermaine Gallow, Kyle Semien, Kevin Dupre, Lee Dupre and Joseph Dupre.

Funeral services for Jamie Marie Richardson-Prejean, 29, will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:00 A. M. with the visitation beginning at 9:00 A. M. at Owens-Thomas Funeral Home in Ville Platte, LA. Rev. Kaleb Semien will conduct the funeral ceremony. Burial will be in St. James Baptist Church Cemetery in Chicot, LA.
Ms. Prejean died in a a traffic accident on La. 13 south of Eunice on Friday, May 30, 2014.
Survivors include her Mother, Charman Richardson of Mamou, LA; her father, James Gunner, Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA; two daughters, J’Ambernique Richardson and Aly’nitia Thomas both of Mamou, LA; one brother, Henry Gunner of Franklin, LA; her maternal grandmother, Eva Richardson of Mamou, LA. and her fiance’, Allen Thomas, Jr. of Mamou, LA;.

Rita Dietz Conner died on Tuesday, June 03, 2014 at the age of 64. A Celebration of Life was celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 05, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church in Iota. Burial followed in the Maxie Cemetery with Pastor David Greene officiating.
She was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Conner; her son, Dennis Holy and wife, Chelle of Iota; daughter, Dana Bouget and husband, Luke of Iota; a step-son, Brian Conner of Lafayette; three brothers, Marvin Dietz and wife, Lois of Eunice, Lee Dietz and wife, Brenda of Iota, Velton Deitz and wife, Gertie of Abbeville; three sisters, Evelyn “Sister” Reagan and Mavis Dietz both of Iota, Doris Reagan and husband, Donald of Egan; three grandchildren, Taylor Darbonne, William Rose, and Mason Holy; and one step-grandchild, Paxton Conner.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jason Holy; her parents, Edward and Mabel Miller Dietz; her brothers, Roland, Bruce, Freddie, Francis and Aubrey Dietz; and a sister Ruth Richardson.
