IOTA-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joseph ''Joe'' Guidry III announces his passing On Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at his home at the age of 36. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 05, 2015 at 6:00 pm at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel in Iota with Minister Mike Guidry officiating.
Joseph, or ''Joe'' as he was called by family and friends, was also known as ''Turtle Man'' because of he loved to hunt turtles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had a great love for the outdoors. Most of all Joe was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his wife, Lori Guidry of Crowley; son, Joseph ''Josey'' Guidry IV of Crowley; stepdaughter, Makayla Hansen of Crowley; mother, Lynette Guidry of Iota; father, Joseph Guidry Jr. and Angie Sonnier of Maxie; sister, Misty Guidry Perrodin and husband, Ronald of Crowley; niece, Alainah Perrodin of Crowley; maternal grandmother, Nelma Leckelt of Iota; father in-law, James Roberts and wife, Paula of Sunset; mother in-law, Falaine Cuccio and husband, Charles of Crowley; best friend, Jeanette ''Jay'' Vidrine of Iota; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Jenna Guidry; maternal grandfather, Joseph Leckelt; paternal grandparents, Pergie Guidry and Natilia Aucoin.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5th at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Iota from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at St. Thomas More
Catholic Church in Eunice at 11 a.m. Fr. Darren Eldridge will officiate. Entombment will
follow at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Mausoleum in Chataignier.
Shirley is survived by one son, Alaric Aucoin of Eunice; one sister, Nela Miller and husband
Roland of Chataignier; four nephews, Bryan Miller and wife Rhonda of Chataignier, Lucas
Miller and wife Stella of Monroe, Jody Miller and wife Keri of Chataignier, and Jamie Miller
and wife Roxanne of Ville Platte; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Ally Fruge and Evelyn Manuel Fruge; her first
husband, Robert Read; and her second husband, Avie Aucoin, Jr.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, from 4:00 p.m.
to 9:30 p.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home in Eunice. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. by
Deacon Chuck Ortego. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday for visitation until the
time of service.

Ruth Guillory Laughlin

Ruth Guillory Laughlin passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at a nursing facility near her home in Covington, LA. She was born on Friday, October 18, 1929 in Eunice, LA to Lury Rozas and O’Neal Guillory and in 1987 she moved from Lafayette, LA to Covington. She had a career in the surgery departments of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, and at Highland Park and St. Tammany Hospitals in Covington. Over the years she was an active member of First Baptist Church in both Lafayette and Covington. She will be remembered for her renowned cooking and baking skills, and she loved to entertain, crochet, sew and paint.
The beloved wife of the late Joseph Charles “Jay” Laughlin, she is survived by her daughter - Rhonda Laughlin Baumgartner (Rick); one son - Michael Grant Laughlin (Mary); seven grandchildren - Lori Jean Laughlin-Orr (Carl), Mary Elizabeth Laughlin-McCloskey (Nick), Michael Joseph Charles Laughlin, R. Taylor Baumgartner (Adrienne), David E. Baumgartner (Jessica), Barrett T. and Leah C. Baumgartner; five great grandchildren - Kaylee and Zachary Orr, Laura and Collin Baumgartner and Piercelyn McCloskey. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters - Rose LeBlue and Burlene Czahajda.
Services are scheduled in both Covington, LA and in Eunice, LA to allow attendance by all relatives and friends that loved Mrs. Laughlin and her family.
At E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433, a memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, August 9, 2015 followed by a time of visitation until 5:30 PM.
At Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 1135 Academy Rd. Eunice, LA 70535, visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 from 11:00 AM until Noon. Funeral services at the Church will begin at 12:00 Noon.
Interment at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Eunice will immediately follow the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.

VILLE PLATTE- It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Sheryl Quinn Bailey, 53, announces her passing on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 7 PM in the Chapel at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte. An additional memorial service will be held for members of her family in September in Ohio.
Sheryl graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Chardon, Ohio and was a long-time member of the St. Helen's Unicycle Drill Team from Newbury, Ohio.
She was a machinist by trade, but also owned a small farm which she managed with her husband. She loved all of her animals, especially her dogs.
Sheryl will be remembered for her sunny smile, her infectious laugh and dedication to her craft.
A loving wife, daughter, sister and friend, Sheryl is survived by her husband, Ralph Bailey, parents, Patrick and Joanne Quinn, brothers, Patrick Quinn and wife Rebecca, Dennis Quinn and wife Cheryl, sisters, Tamara Quinn and companion Sue and Kelly Quinn, nephew John Patrick Quinn and wife Kelli and nieces Kate Quinn, Alison Quinn, Brittany Quinn, Avery Fowler, Rachel Hubler and Taylor Quinn.
At the request of the Bailey family, a visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 5 PM until time of services at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty for Animals (ASPCA).

Clayton Janise and wife Sharon of Jennings, and Sherman Janise and wife Marie of Duson;
four sisters, Betty Guillory of Eunice, Jane Boone and husband Tave of Eunice, Christine Fontenot
of Eunice, and Jackie Janise of Lafayette; a son-in-law, Joe Fontenot of Eunice; eight grandchildren;
eighteen great grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Exile Janise and Delia Lejeune Janise; her first husband,
Constant "TT" Credeur; one sister, Lisa Janise.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Sunday, August 09, 2015, from 11:00 AM to
11:00 PM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM by Deacon David Guillory.

A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 9:00 am on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Deacon Chuck Ortego officiating.
Elbee, retired as a bulldozer operator in the oilfield and then worked as a janitor at Glendale Elementary for 7 years. But most of all he was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his loving wife of forty three years, Mary Reed Manuel of Chataignier; his two sons, Daniel Manuel and wife, Donna of Ville Platte and Anthony Manuel of Chataignier; his brother, Henry Manuel and wife, Brenda of Texas; his sister, Mary Manuel Guidry of Lafayette; and his loving granddaughter, Tabitha Manuel of Ville Platte; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alebay and Olena Langley Manuel and a brother, Roland Manuel.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Monday, August 10th from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Tuesday, August 11th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Chuck Ortego will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Monday evening.

Lillian Heinen Barron

KINDER ~ A wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Lillian Heinen Barron will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Lillian passed away on August 8, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 84.
A mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Interment followed at St. Paul Cemetery in Eunice with Father Marshall Boulet celebrant.
She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the love and care of her family. She loved to travel and was even in Rome when the Pope died and viewed his body. She enjoyed life to the fullest. Her favorite past time was attending her families sporting activities and she was a #1 cheerleader for her grandkids. She loved the casino, playing cards, Pokeno, and Cadillac. She also enjoyed helping others. She was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Ladies Alter Society.
She will be sadly missed but never forgotten by her son, David Barron and his wife, Katy of Kinder and her daughters, Kathy Henderson and her husband, Neil of Eunice, Pat Dietz and her companion, Tommy Barrow of Eunice, Jeannie Blackwell and her husband, Ricky of Sulphur, Nancy Ruiz and her husband, Dan of College Station, Texas, Tracy Barron of Elton and Toni Barron and her companion, Jimmy Flagan of Sulphur. She was blessed with sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She know rests in heaven with her beloved husband, Bill Barron, her grandson, Marcus Carrier, her parents, P.J. “Sam” and Annie Heinen, her sister, Helen Landry, brothers, Louis Heinen, James Heinen and Henry Heinen and her son-in-law, Hubert Dietz.
At the request of the family, visitation was held at Rush Funeral Home, Kinder on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary and celebration of life at 6:00 p.m. Visitation resumed on Monday, August 10, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.

Rayne, LA - Funeral services for Joseph Darrell Deshotel, 63, of Indian Bayou will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 10:00 am in Gossen Funeral Home Chapel, Rayne. Father Samuel Fontana will officiate. Interment will follow in Leger Cemetery, Rayne, LA.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm in Gossen Funeral Home, Rayne, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 am until service time in the funeral home.
Mr. Deshotel passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 3:35 am in a Lafayette health care facility.
A resident of Indian Bayou, Mr. Deshotel was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He worked for many years for Winn Dixie at various area locations, retiring as manager. Mr. Deshotel was an avid LSU football fan, and he had a room in his house dedicated to his LSU memorabilia collection. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Hebert Deshotel of Indian Bayou; sons, Darrell Chad Deshotel of Scott, and Hunter Joseph Deshotel of Indian Bayou; brother, Roland Miller of Eunice; and sisters, Diana Myers of Eunice, Alma Tate of Eunice, and Lorraine Johnson of Pine Prairie.
Preceding Mr. Deshotel in death were his parents, Gladwin Deshotel and Nola Miller Deshotel; brothers, Timmy Deshotel, Dillon Johnson, and George Deshotel; and sister, Margie Dell Deshotel.

She was a member of Northgate Church of Christ for over 40 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She had a love for all people and never met a stranger.
She is survived by her husband Harrison “Big” Fruge of Lafayette; a son, Steven Fruge and wife Barbara of Broussard; a daughter, Betty Fruge Carney of Lafayette; two sisters, Shirley Soileau and husband Steve of Patterson, Nell Roy and husband Casper of Erath. Five grandchildren and Twelve great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edovice and Nettie Thibodeaux Guillory; her brother, Elbie Guillory and her father and mother-in-law, Zepherin and Ena Bellon Fruge.

EUNICE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of John Raymond Manuel announces his passing on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Cornerstone Village South Nursing Home in Lafayette at the age of 81. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Father Sensat Celebrant.
John was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from the Texas Gas Company after working for 35 years. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his children, Neal E. Manuel and wife, Kim, Chad B. Manuel, M.D. and wife, Michele ''Missy'', and Francine Manuel, M.D. and husband, Mark Andrepont, O.D. all of Lafayette; sister, Della M. Perkins of Houma; four grandchildren, Eric Manuel, Emily Manuel, Aimee Andrepont, and Stephan Andrepont; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geneva L. Manuel; parents, Aras and Hazel Chaumont Manuel; and brother, Ernest Manuel.
The family would like to extend great thanks and appreciation to the staff of Cornerstone Village South Nursing home and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center for their care and support.

brother, Jason LeJeune of Eunice.
Marcus was preceded in death by his father, Nelton LeJeune.

Alicia Renee LeBleu Bodin passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at the age of 49.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home
in Eunice. Deacon Gary Gaudin will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery in Basile.
Alicia is survived by her mother, Grace F. LeBleu of Duralde; her husband, Charles Bodin of Eunice; one
daughter, Megan Spicer of Deridder; one stepdaughter, Alyssa Bodin of Mobile, AL; one son, Travis Spicer
of Hackberry; two stepsons, Michael Bodin of Mobile, AL and Nicholas Bodin of Mobile, AL; one sister,
Denise L. Lejeune and husband Larry of Duralde; and five grandchildren.
Alicia was preceded in death by her father, Bruce LeBleu.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on
Saturday for visitation until the time of service.

MAMOU– It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of, Mary Elizabeth Ortego, 59, announces her passing on Wednesday August 19, 2015 her residence in Mamou. Chapel services will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at the Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou. Burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial park Cemetery in Ville Platte with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
Elizabeth was an LPN for over 30 years and enjoyed Camping and Tennis
Elizabeth as everyone knew her will be greatly missed by her son, Dillard Andre' Ortego and wife, Samantha of Eunice; her mother, Leona M. Ortego of Mamou; her four siblings, Barry, David, James Ortego and Eleanor Deshotel and husband, Meguel all of Mamou; three grandchildren, Carson, Titus and Ava Ortego.
She will now reunite in Heaven with her husband, Clayton Odom, father, James B. Ortego and one sister, Kathy Ortego. They surely await her arrival with open arms and joyous heart.
At the request of the Ortego family visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 11:30 A.M. Friday Morning.
