Lucy Fontenot Meaux died on Friday, August 1, 2014, at the age of 87.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home in Eunice.
Deacon David Guillory will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Eunice.
Survivors include one son, Phil W. Meaux and wife Carla of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Elizabeth Gotreaux and husband Richard of Eunice; one brother, Horace Fontenot of Eunice; one sister, Mary Lou Guillory of Eunice; and six grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dovic Fontenot and Alma Smith Fontenot; her husband, John Meaux; one sister, Mary Jane Fontenot; three brothers, Henry Fontenot, Norris "Boy Boy" Fontenot, and Berckman Fontenot.

Funeral Services for Alvin J. Thomas, Sr., 82, will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 12:00 noon at St. Mathilda Catholic Church in Eunice, LA.
Visitation will be observed from 8:00 am to 11:45 am with the rosary at 10:30 am at Owens-Thomas Funeral Home, 437 Moosa Blvd, Eunice, LA. Interment will be at the St. Mathilda Catholic Church Cemetery. Reverend Darren Elridge and Reverend Stephen Ugwu will officiate at the services.
Thomas died on July 31, 2014 at his residence in Eunice, LA.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bettye Jean Grant Thomas; four children: Deldeirdra Thomas Webb (Raymond) Baton Rouge, Iyon Thomas Singleton (Frederick, Sr.) Austin, Texas, Alvin J. Thomas, Jr. (Grace) Crowley, and Juan C. Thomas (Gail) Eunice; one sister, Dorothy Thomas Shillow, Beaumont, Texas; one other daughter-in-law, Linda Reed Thomas, Eunice; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

Sophie Smith Adams died on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at age 65. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father David Hebert Celebrant.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Tina Renee’ Rollins Cormier and husband, Will of Deridder, Samantha Ortego and husband, Dillard, Sadie Adams and Louis Leger, all of Eunice; three brothers, William Smith, Jr. and wife, Jovita of Houston, Texas, Bruce Smith and wife, Donna of Oakdale, and Mark Smith of Austin, Texas; one sister, Nelda Ann Stapp and husband, David of Oakdale; seven grandchildren, Jessie Carriere, Greg Moss, Kathrine Rollins, Titus, Carson and Ava Ortego and Mattie Leger, andseven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Ray Adams, J.r; daughter, Charity Adams; her parents, William and Gladys Young Smith, Sr.; and two grandchildren Destiny and William LeJeune.
Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Wednesday, August 13th from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Thursday, August 14th from 8:00 am until time of services. Father David Hebert will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Wednesday evening.

'Ed' Vidrine

Edward “Ed” Vidrine died on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Acadian Medical Center at the age of 87. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Dustin Dought Celebrant and Father Matthew Barzare Co-Celebrant.
In his young adult life Vidrine farmed and worked at his father’s saw mill in Lanse Gris. He later worked for the railroad & gravel pit in Turkey Creek. He began his career in the oilfield as a roustabout for Hub City Contractors in Eunice, became a gauger, then a pumper, before retiring as a field superintendent of the LL&E Pine Prairie field in 1989.
Survivors include his wife Vivian Barzare Vidrine of Eunice; children, Steve Vidrine and wife, Debra, Keith Vidrine, all of Eunice, Vickie Gossen and husband, Jude of Scott; sister, Laura Mae Guillory of Hessmer; brother, Burnell Vidrine and companion, Ms. Jo of Opelousas; sisters-in-law, Elaine Barzare of Eunice, Virgie Barzare of Kinder and Mavis Vidrine of Reddell; 11 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Alibe and Alida Vidrine; sisters, Eve, Willamae, and Lelma; brothers, Kirby, Delta, Viel, and Frank; and step-grandson, Dylan Gary.
Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice until time of services.

Hannah Zaunbrecher, long-time PSC aide

Hannah Casselmann Zaunbrecher, 72, of Eunice died on Saturday, August 16, 2014.
She was a native of Eunice and worked for more than 50 years in banking and with the Public Service Commission. She was a lifelong member of Mowata Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and played the piano and organ.
Survivors include two sons, Dwayne Zaunbrecher and wife, June, and Douglas Zaunbrecher and wife, Marla, all of Mowata; three sisters, Cynthia Sanders and husband, Charles of Pineville, Gloria Rockett and husband, Keith of Mowata, and Arlene Tucker and husband, James of Eunice; five grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Kathryn, Hans, and Anya.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Esther (Bieber) Casselmann.
On Monday, August 18, visitation will be at Mowata Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Mowata Baptist Cemetery. Rev. Glen Howie will officiate at the service.

MAMOU - Vickie Marcantel, 53, died on August 17, 2014 at 12:50 A.M. Chapel services will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou with Pastor Brian Dore of Assembly of God officiating.
She was a nurse.
Survivors include here husband, Danzel Marcantel, J.r of Point Blue; two sons, Danzel “ Trey” Marcante,l III and his wife, Lainey of Point Blue, and Logan Wayne Marcantel of Point Blue; one daughter, Kristy Marcantel Thibodeaux and husband, Jonathon of Chicot; her parents, Eugene and Ruth Fontenot of Point Blue; one brother, Robby Fontenot of Point Blue and one sister Cindy Connor and husband, John of Eunice; her father and mother-in-law, Danzel and Barbara Marcantel of Mamou ; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. The Funeral Home will reopen on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 8:00 AM until time of services.

Alberta S. Williams

Visitation for Alberta S. Williams was held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Church Of God In Christ from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Continued visitation was on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel, Eunice, with funeral services following at 11:00 am with Elder Johnathan Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Eunice.
Mrs. Williams, 86, died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 2:30 am at Regional Specialty AMG Hospital in Lafayette.
She was a very faithful and devoted member of Church Of God In Christ. She was the Mother of the C.H. Mason Church of God In Christ for 30 plus years, a title that she well earned and deserved. She was a member of the Mission, president of Food Service and a Pastor Aide. Mother Williams loved her Pastor unconditionally. She lead by example. In her community everyone knew her as “Mome’’. Her doors were always open. Mother Williams was the epitome of a Holy Ghost filled woman. Even in her illness if someone died in the community she would always cook for the family and give words of encouragement.
Mrs. Williams is survived by four sons: Chester Williams, Jr. of Beaumont TX, Carl C. Williams of Mazatlan, Mexico, Elijah Williams, Jr. (Delores) of Eunice, and Lorenzo Williams (Theresa) of Port Arthur, TX; two daughters, Flennie Williams-Johnson (Rev. Andrew T. Johnson) of Beaumont, TX, and Lucille Carter (Anthony) of Denver, CO; two brothers, Roger “Boule’’ Stevens and Dudley Stevens, both of Eunice; one sister, Hazel Brown of Eunice; 25 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams is preceded in death by her spouse, Chester L. Williams, Sr., her parents, Louis and Edolia Stevens; three brothers, Sampson, Gavin, and Wilson Stevens; one sister, Rose Anderson.
Pallbearers were: Lorenzo Williams, Sr., Felix Jones, Jr., Elijah Williams, Sr., Leo Lang, Jr., Christopher Williams, and Carl C. Williams.
Frank Brothers was in charge of services.

He died at age 63 on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 4:30 pm at St. Christus Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA.
He was a professional painter. He also did mechanic work in Opelousas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Joseph B. Henry and Zita S. Henry; three brothers, Thomas J. Henry, Anthony Henry, and Lloyd J. Henry.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Warren Meadows Funeral Home, Many, LA.
Hayden was born on Monday, October 28, 1935 in Highland Park, Mich.
He died on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Sabine Medical Center in Many, LA.
Jerome was stationed on the U.S.S. Ranger air craft carrier while in the Navy. He also worked 37 years in the pipeline Industry.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph Hayden and Eleanor Ariana Hayden.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Hayden of Many, LA; son, Anthony Hayden and wife Stacia of Sulphur, LA; brother, Robert Hayden of Lake Orion, Mich.; and grandchildren: Karleigh and Grant Hayden.
Pallbearers will be: Bruce Rogers, Robert Meadows, Harry Branch, Glenn Ortego, Eddie Jackson, Jeff Tarpley, Jared LeBlue, and Gary Krize.

Visitation for Prince Kajiki-Rnoki Noel will be held at on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with funeral services following both at Frank Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Eunice, LA. Interment will follow in the Reed Cemetery in Mamou, LA.
Prince, age 34, died on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 3:38 pm at his residence in Mamou, LA.
He attended West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texsas where he graduated. He was manager and chef at Luby’s and Cracker Barrel in Beaumont. He also worked for the Town of Mamou.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Fabiola Noel of Mamou; his father, George Richard, Jr. of Mamou; three sons: Da’Vonta Noel, De’Andrea Noel and Prince Noel, all of Beaumont; one daughter, Chilaysia Noel of Beaumont; one brother, Silithio Richard (Rebecca) of Mamou; and one sister, Nicole Darselle Jason of Mamou.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. Howard Noel and Mrs. Willie Mae Goodly; and paternal grandparent, Mrs. Verdie Lee Richard.
Pallbearers will be: Savialas Noel, Martin Young, Marcus Miller, Noel Fontenot, Nico’li Jason, and Authur Valere.

Survivors include her husband, Lieutenant Colonel, Richard D. LeDoux USAF (Ret), of Eunice; her son, Richard D. LeDoux, J.r and wife, Debi of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Jeanne D. LeDoux Gray and husband, Daniel of Tehachapi, Calif. and Suzanne A. LeDoux Mumphrey and husband, Scott of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Patricia Erin Russell and husband, Lew of Beaumont, Texas; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dubuisson and Bertha Reed Manuel; brothers, W.C. Shelton, Gerald and Larry Manuel; and a sister, Edwina Manuel.
Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, August 28th from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Friday, August 29th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Thursday evening.
