Susan Smith died on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice. She was 42. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Pastor David Williams officiating.
Survivors include her father, Austin Smith; her mother, Jenene Smith; her brother, Kirk Smith; and her sister, Bridget Klein and husband, Scott all of Eunice.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hillman and Maria Smith and Hurley and Dora McManus.
Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home on Thursday, February 12th from 11:00 am until time of services.

Loretta Arnaud Mott died on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the age of 57.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015, at 11 AM at Quirk & Son. Deacon Gary Gaudin will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Eunice.
Survivors include her father, Doris Arnaud of Ville Platte; one daughter, Dorsie Mott of Mamou; one son, Donald Mott, Jr. of Eunice; two sisters, Delores Bazinet of Elton and Janet Holford of Basile; three brothers, Larry Arnaud of Elton, Wayne Arnaud of Mamou, and Tommy Arnaud of Opelousas; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eurella Guilbeau Arnaud; her husband, Donald Mott, Sr.; and one brother, Norris Arnaud.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015, from 3:30 PM to 10 PM at Quirk & Son. A Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 PM by Deacon Gary Gaudin. The funeral home will reopen on Friday at 8 AM for visitation until the time of service.

Elma Briscoe Vanderford died on Friday, February 13, 2015, at the age of 75.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015, at 10 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Msg. Robert Romero will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Survivors include two grandsons, Gauge Michael Briscoe and Galen Shane Briscoe from Lawtell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Dora Lebouef Briscoe, and one son, Michael Shane Briscoe.

Billy Dean Hallum died on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at the age of 78.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015, at 1 PM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. Pastor Orville Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Mamou.
Survivors include four daughters, Teresa H. Henry and Robert Arabie of Eunice; Sheryl McKee of Oklahoma, Marie H. and husband Ellis Slocum of Eunice, Lanette Hallum and Nicholas Fontenot of Eunice; three sons, Jack Hallum of Gonzales, Ronnie Hallum of Eunice, and Billy Joe Hallum and wife Darla of Chataignier; one daughter-in-law, Melitta Roby of Rose Pine; one brother, Clifford Hallum and wife Ann of Eunice; twelve grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Buster" and Stella Mae Thomason Hallum; his wife, Lela Jo Greene Hallum; and four sisters, Bennie Rankin, Dorthy Smith, "Patsy" Reynolds, and Melba Joyce Hallum.
Visitation will be at Quirk & Son until the time of service.

Florella “Flo” DeBarge died on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Opelousas General Health System at the age of 77. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 19, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Ashford Cemetery with Msgr. Robert Romero Celebrant.
She was formerly a resident of Hackberry before residing in Eunice. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, John A. DeBarge, Sr of Eunice; three sons, John A. DeBarge, Jr. of Lafayette, Timothy “Tim” DeBarge and wife, Tina of Taylor Landing, Texas and Jason DeBarge and wife, JoAnna of Eunice; her brother, Wildon J. Fontenot and wife, JoLynn of Opelousas; three grandchildren, Laynee Jo DeBarge, John McKay DeBarge, and Tyler Christian DeBarge; two step-grandchildren, Hollie Faul Mcatte and Chad Faul; three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Delia Lynn DeBarge, and her parents, Johnnie and Helena Duplechain Fontenot.
Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s on Wednesday, February 18th from 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Thursday, February 19th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Wednesday evening.

Willie Howard Strode

Visitation will be held from 8:00 am to 10:45 am Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 with funeral services following at 11:00 am both at Greater True Light Baptist Church, 341 Anne Street, Eunice, LA for Bro. Willie Howard Strode. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Eunice with Pastor Jermaine Tezeno officiating.
Bro. Strode, age 97, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 5:30 am in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a very devoted and faithful member of Greater True Light Baptist Church. He was the oldest Brother of the church. He was an avid reader of the Bible, a Sunday School member, member of the Brotherhood and a strong member of Bible study.
He was a high school graduate and attended technical school. There he became a certified brick layer and television repair man. He was married to Sister Hazel Fruge on September 23, 1943. He later joined the Navy, October 12, 1943. He was honorably discharged, February 4, 1946. Upon leaving the Armed forces he returend to Eunice and was employed by Halliburton until he retired.
Survivors include two sons, Lee Arthur Strode (Patricia) of Murfreesboro and Fredrick Strode (Joyce) of Gonzales, LA; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Howard and Mrs. Rosa Strode; spouse, Mrs. Hazel Strode; daughter, Leeanna Strode Scott; sister, Celestine Antwine; brother, Damascus Strode; two nephews, Donald Strode and Russell Strode.
Pallbearers will be: Charles Ray Anderson, Frank Antwine, Ray Antwine, Donnis Charleston, Gregory Doyle, and Craig Johnson.
Frank Brothers Funeral Home, 150 Town Home Drive, Eunice, LA is in charge of arrangements.

She died on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Eunice Manor.
Survivors include her mother: Mary Johnson of Eunice; one sister: Elizabeth Pitre of Eunice, and two brothers: Willis Johnson, Jr. of Eunice, and Joseph Johnson of Mamou; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father: Willie Johnson; two sisters: Winnie Johnson and Roseabelle Fontenot; and two brothers: Linton and Rogers Johnson.

Mary Adia Veronie Hebert died on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at the age of 75.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at 12 PM at Quirk & Son in Basile. Fr. David Hebert will officiate. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Elton.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Hebert of Elton and Clayton Hebert of Basile; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otra Veronie and Beulah Richard Veronie; one daughter, Cynthia Hebert; and one sister, Elaine Laughlin.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015, from 10 AM to 10 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM. The funeral home will reopen on Saturday at 8 AM for visitation until the time of service.

Charles D. Chaumont

BASILE~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Charles Darrell Chaumont announces his passing on the morning of Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Savoy Medical Center with loving family by his side. He was 80. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father David Hebert Celebrant.
He was retired from the Oil and Gas Industry as a mechanic vibration analyst. He worked for the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department for a number of years. Darrell enjoyed going to his camp at the river and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Spending time with his family was the joy of his life. Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 61 years Eunice “June” Chaumont of Basile. He was also extremely loving and proud of his three daughters, Christine Bacon and husband, James and Rebecca Klumpp and husband, Rapheal all of Basile, and Julie Fontenot and husband, Joel of Duralde. He is also survived by his nine precious grandchildren, Richard Bacon, Jessica Denette, Ethan Bacon, Rachel Manuel, Kevin Fontenot, Sarah Bacon, John Eric Fontenot, Hannah Brightwell and Leah Trahan; and sixteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ella Mae Ray of Lake Charles; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alcide and Martha Rozas Chaumont; and three sisters, Cleola Christ, Irene Granger and Irece George.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Monday, February 23rd from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm. On Tuesday, February 24th visitation will begin at 8:00 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church until time of services.

Lola Fern Hebert Dietz

IOTA~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lola Fern Hebert Dietz announces her passing on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Jeff Davis Living Center with loving family by her side. She was 86. A Celebration of Life was celebrated at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church in Iota. Burial will follow in the Iota City Cemetery with Rev. David Greene officiating.
Lola was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a very kind and loving woman and spending time with her family and friends brought a great deal of joy to her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her especially her three sons, August Sheldon Dietz of Jennings, Rodney Charles Dietz of Bastrop, TX and Edjes Ray Dietz of Lake Charles and one sister, Lilly Comeaux of Tee Mamou.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Henry Dietz; and two sons, Michael Henry and Melvin James Dietz.
At the request of the family, visitation was held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Iota on Saturday, February 21st from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Sunday, February 22nd from 9:00 am until time of services.

Dallas Chapman

MAMOU–A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2015 for Dallas Chapman at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the New St. Ann’s Mausoleum in Mamou with Fr. Mark Melancon Celebrant.
He is survived by one son, Dallas Wayne Chapman and wife, Barbara of Charlotte N.C.and one daughter, Peggy Ann Pringle and companion, Al`Lain of Austin , Tx; two grandchildren, Rachel Chapman of Los Angeles, CA and Blake Chapman of Charlotte S.C. one brother, Raphael Chapman of Morgan City.
Mr. Dallas was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Ella Fontenot Chapman, one son, Robert Chapman, his parents, Joseph and Agnes Guillory Chapman and a half-brother Walter Ardoin.
At the request of the family visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Monday, February 23, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. Monday afternoon.

George Kenneth Moosa passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015, at the age of 78.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Elaine Quirk Moosa of Eunice; two daughters, Julie Cucullu and
husband Ken of Louisville, Kentucky and Anne Marie Mudge and husband Paul of Lafayette; four
sons, Greg Moosa and wife Carmon of St. Francisville, David Moosa and wife Jennifer of Hunnington,
West Virginia, Steven Moosa and wife Lori of Eunice, and Michael Moosa and wife Nicole of Broussard;
and fifteen grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Theopile and Victoria Mohana Moosa and three brothers,
Nola, Wilson, and Ronald Moosa.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Saturday,
February 28, 2015, from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. A Rosary will be prayed by Deacon Gary Gaudin and
the Catholic Daughters at 10:00 AM.
