Warrick "Big Mitch" Mitchell Hebert

EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Warrick Mitchell “Big Mitch” Hebert announces his sudden passing on Monday, March 30, 2015, at the age of 55. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 01, 2015, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Msgr. Romero, celebrant.
He was known by his close family and friends as “Big Mitch.” He loved to camp and hunt, work in his vegetable garden, and play with his grandkids. He was a loving father, step father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be missed and loved dearly by everyone who knew him, especially his daughter, Michell Hebert of Lafayette; his two step sons, Jason Thibodeaux and wife, Susan of Eunice and Jeramie Thibodeaux of Richard; his brother, Belvon Hebert of Eunice; three sisters, Gwen Thomassee of Eunice, Maggie Palmer of Franklin and Faye Stroder of Lafayette; his ex wife, Dorene Hebert of Eunice; and the joys of his life, his six grandchildren, Payton Desormeaux, Lane, Tanner, Garrett, Carter and Bailey Thibodeaux.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Virginia Fruge Hebert, and two brothers, Mordello and Irwin Hebert.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, March 31st from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Wednesday, April 1st from 9:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard for Randy Bellard, 49, who passed away at his home in Branch on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 8:40 a.m.
Fr. Wayne Duet, Pastor of St. Edward Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in the St. Edward Catholic Church Cemetery in Richard.
The family has requested visitation to be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. until time of services. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 6:00 in the evening in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point.
Survivors include his wife, Kris Bellard of Branch; two daughters, Alicia, and husband, Jonathon Guidry of Mire, and Kelsey Mire of Thibodeaux; one son, Scotty and wife, Jenna Mire of Church Point; his parents, Laurent and Wilda P. Bellard, Jr. of Eunice; his maternal grandfather, Leo Picard of Eunice; two brothers, Kevin James and wife, Shelly Bellard of Baytown, TX and Marty Steven and wife, Rachel Bellard of Eunice; seven grandchildren, Madisyn Mire, Aiden Mire, Cullen Mire, Landon Guidry, Konner Guidry, Izabella Guidry and Acen Mire; five nieces and nephews, James, Nita, and Clay Bellard, Kelley and Keith Meyers.
Randy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Laurent and Ernestine Bellard, Sr. and his maternal grandmother, Nita Picard.

Barbara Young Cobb passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at the age of 69.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home
in Eunice. Fr. Dustin Dought will officiate. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery in Kinder.
Barbara is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Lucas of Eunice, Pam Cooper of Sulphur, and
Elizabeth Fontenot of Mamou; one son, Eugene Pelican, Jr. of Kinder; two brothers, Webster
Young of Eunice and Bobby Young of Kinder; nine grandchildren; and eleven great–grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton Young and Verna Israel Bertrand Young;
her first husband, Eugene Pelican, her second husband, Sammy Cobb; one sister, Mae Thigpen,
and two great-grandchildren, Acel McDaniel, Jr. and William Joseph Prudhomme
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
A Rosary will be prayed with time pending. The funeral home will reopen on Thursday at 8 a.m. for
visitation until the time of service.

VILLE PLATTE- It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Eula Mae Prader, 79, announces her passing on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. A Catholic Service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 2 PM at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte with Father Mitchell Guidry as celebrant.
Eula Mae loved her grandchildren and family deeply and in her past time enjoyed sewing and watching hummingbirds.
A loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Eula Mae will be greatly missed by her two sons; David Bellow of Eunice and Ricky Bellow and wife Jolene of Eunice, daughter, Delores Fontenot and companion Verbis Debaillon of Ville Platte, two brothers; Ray Lee of Church Point and Ronnie Lee of Swords and sister Ella Bernard of Swords. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her 8 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
Eula Mae will now reunite in heaven with her parents, Ferdernand and Scena Fontenot Lee, brothers, Dillard Lee and Leas Lee and sisters, Mary Bourgeois, Rose Lee, Nell Laukala and Helen Lee. They will be awaiting her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the Prader family, a visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 4 PM until 10 PM and will reopen again on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 8 AM until time of services. A rosary will be recited in Ms. Prader’s honor on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 6 PM.

A wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend Stephanie will be greatly missed by her husband of 44 years, Phillip “Phil” Bordelon of Mamou, her mother, Ruth Deshotels Ardoin also of Mamou; four sons, Claude Bordelon of Mamou, Joshua Bordelon and wife Hope Bryant Bordelon of Hessmer, twin sons, Luke Bernard Bordelon and Lucas Paul Bordelon and one daughter, Elizabeth “Eve” Pierrotti and husband, Jacob all of Mamou; one brother, H. Wendell Ardoin and wife, Carmen Fontenot Ardoin of Eunice; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Brooke, Cory, and Matthew Bordelon, Alyssa Bordelon, Avery Bordelon and Landon Bryant.
She will now reunite in Heaven with her father, Lee Rayne Ardoin. He surely awaits her arrival with open arms and a joyous heart.

Melba Eaves Baldridge passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015, at the age of 90.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Krotz Springs First
Baptist Church. Pastor Chad Balfa will officiate. Interment will follow at the Krotz Springs First
Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Aaron Morgan, Michael Morgan, Armando Garza, and
Jeremy Frey. Honorary pallbearers are Tim Morgan and Seth Baldridge.
Melba was born in Merryville, LA, a native of Krotz Springs, LA, resided in Lafayette, LA the last
three years of her life. She went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2015. Melba was a member and
active in the church with VBS and other activities prior to her declining health. She loved reading,
gardening, and enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, cooking shows, country music, and
attending parties.
Melba was survived by her children, Diana Wasserman and husband Clyde Royals, Voncile Monique
and husband David Hudman, Hillary Allen and wife Mae Baldridge II, and Melanie B. and husband
Glenn McCauley. Melba was the eldest of her siblings. Her sisters and brothers include, Jackie
Williamson, Lora Peavy, Willie Bea Moses, Linda Willis, Henry Eaves, and Bob Eaves. She has ten
grandchildren: Alex Roussel, Tim Morgan, Hilliary Morgan, Amber Darbonne Frey, Hillary Baldridge, III,
Seth Baldridge, Naomi Wasserman Stinson, Tzeidle Wasserman, and Gila Wasserman. She has
eighteen great-grandchildren: Aaron Morgan, Elizabeth Morgan, Emma Morgan, Michael Morgan,
Ella Morgan, Sara Higginbotham, Jolie Frey, Levi Frey, Armando Garza, Shawn Garza, Ariella Thomas,
Seth Voorhies, Dalton Baldridge, Hannah Baldridge, Willow Baldridge, Seth Alan Baldridge, Wyatt
Baldridge, and Erin Baldridge.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents, William Britt and Nannie Coleman Eaves; her husband,
Hillary Allen Baldridge Sr.; one sister, Nussie Eaves; and one granddaughter, Samantha Juanita Morgan.

HAYWARD, WI - Gertrude E. Herber, age 101, of Hayward, WI passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Golden Living Center-Valley of Hayward. Gertrude was born on March 2, 1914 in Eunice, LA to Albert and Emma (LeDoux) Bordelon.
On May 22, 1945, Gertrude was wed to Earl L. Hielsberg in San Antonio, TX. Earl preceded her in death on August 12, 1967. On February 14, 1983, Gertrude re-married Anthony W. Herber. Anthony preceded her in death on August 9, 1997. Gertrude spent most of her child hood in Louisiana where she attended Catholic School. Gertrude considered herself to be 100% French Cajun. Gertrude would eventually make her way North to Wisconsin and settled in Oshkosh. Earlier in life Gertrude was a Secretary for the Army Air Corp during WWII in San Antonio, TX. She loved to cook and entertain, and would spend the latter part of her life as a homemaker taking care of her family. Gertrude was a very devoted wife and loving mother. She was also a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh, WI.
Gertrude is survived by a son, Robert (Sharon Goodacre) Hielsberg of Hayward; a daughter, Mary Ann (Peter) Ligiti of San Jose, CA; a brother, Roland Bordelon of Eunice, LA; a sister, Irene Reed of Eunice, LA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
Gertrude is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Emma; her husbands, Earl Hielsberg and Anthony Herber; two brothers, Buddy and Frankie Bordelon; and a sister, Hilda Swenson.

BASILE-It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Jane Cook Veronie announces her passing on the morning of Friday, April 10, 2015 at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley with loving family by her side at the age of 76. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Basile. Burial will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father David Hebert officiating.
She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She enjoyed crocheting, watching old movies and cheering on her Saints football team. But most of all she was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her two children, her son, Michael W. Veronie and wife, Kimberly and her daughter, Angela Veronie Cormier and husband, Roy Cormier, Jr. all of Tepetate; her two brothers, Warren and Michael Cook and a sister, Juanita “Nita” Deraps all of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The joys of her life her six grandchildren, Erin Veronie, Christopher Levergne, Hanna Johnson, Scott Levergne, Sean Veronie and Joshua Levergne; and her three great grandchildren, Gabrielle and Austin Levergne and Maddalyn Veronie.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Darby D. Veronie; her parents, William and Zelma Cilley Cook; brother, Billy Cook and sisters, Dawn Spinney and Joann Brogan.

Dolores was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a very kind and loving woman and spending time with her family and friends brought a great deal of joy to her life. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her, especially her three sons, Ronald Christ and wife, Beth of Eunice, Darrel G. Christ of Lafayette, and Scott Christ and wife, Roxy of Mamou; her daughter, Sheila C. Vidrine and husband, Phillip of Eunice; her brother, Michael Wayne Monceaux of Iowa; two sisters, Joyce Manuel of Ragley and Cindy Ardoin of Oakdale. The joys of her life her ten grandchildren, Justin and Rusty Christ, Derek and Tiffani Christ, Travis, Tyler and Trent Vidrine, Hunter and Logan Christ and Chancely Christ Fruge and ten great grandchildren, Eva, Jackson, Caroline, Maria, John Benson, Jax, Ilee, Emmitt, Jagger and Harper and a godmother to Hilda Trahan of Oberlin.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Christ; her parents, Sylves and Enite Hebert Monceaux; her godchild, Kevin Manuel and nephew Shannon Ardoin.

Charles is survived by two sons, Taylor Runnels and wife Tasha of Mamou and Derek Runnels of
Mamou; three step-daughters, Amanda Lawrence and husband Peter of Lafayette, Carla Arvie and
husband Teddy of Chataignier, and Danielle McQuirter and husband Jonathon of Eunice; one sister,
Pam Pfaffmann and husband Harry of Mire; and thirteen grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Runnels and Mildred Lebouef Runnels;
his wife Brenda Jagneaux Runnels; and one son, Charles Brandon Runnels.

Peggy Thomasson Lafleur, our beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt and grandmother, was called into the arms of our heavenly Father on April 16, 2015 at the age of 80.
Born and raised in Melville, La., Peggy was a retired school teacher who lived and raised her family in Eunice, La., before moving to Baton Rouge.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. Always strong in faith, she was also active in her church communities, First United Methodist Church in Eunice and St. John’s United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea Lafleur Aubin and Don Aubin; Patricia Lafleur Ganiban and Gary Ganiban; and Myra Lafleur Russell and Trae Russell; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Marlys Thomasson; eight grandchildren, Jillian, Michael and Christopher Aubin; Justin and Jack Ganiban; Harrison, Kate and Gabriel Russell; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Katie Thomasson; her husband Lee J. Lafleur; brothers Joe Thomasson, Andrew Thomasson and Ludlow Thomasson; sisters Ruth Hebert, Sophie Ziegler and Jane Westerhaus.
Visitation will held on Monday, April 20 at 9 am at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, followed by Funeral Services at 11 am.
Burial services and interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice, La.

She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She enjoyed church, spending time with family and cooking. But most of all she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her, especially her two daughters, Lewana Wagner Cooper and husband, Kenneth, and Carla Wagner Soileau and husband, Greg, all of Eunice; two grandchildren, Shelley Soileau Savoy and Gregory “Stormy” Soileau, Jr.; and her ten great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herman Wagner, Jr.; parents, Albert and Martha Brackin Marcontell; six brothers and three sisters; and grandson, David Chad Cooper

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, April 24th from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and again on Saturday, April 25th from 8:00 am until time of services.

VILLE PLATTE-Mr. Earl Patton Griffith, 82, of Bayou Chicot, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015. Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte from 5PM to 9PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. A celebration of life will be conducted at 10AM on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Burial will follow at Ferguson Cemetery in Bayou Chicot with Pastor Roger Whittington officiating.
Mr. Griffith, age 82, of Bayou Chicot, entered eternal rest on April 19, 2015, with his family by his side at The Carpenter House hospice in Baton Rouge. He was born on November 21, 1932 in Bayou Chicot to the union of Dudley and Anna Holden Griffith. Earl was a life-long resident of Bayou Chicot. He was a retired oilfield employee with Superior Oil Company after over 30 years of service. He was also the former co-owner of Parkside Grocery and Lorraine’s Lounge. He loved visiting with friends and family, keeping the grass cut on his tractor, passing a good time, and running the roads in his truck.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Anna Griffith; his sister, Barbara Jean Chauvin; his nephew, Kent Griffith; and his daughter, Madison (Kathy) Griffith. He is survived by one son, Launey Patton Griffith and wife Kelsey of Eunice; two brothers, Cody Griffith and wife Mary of Bayou Chicot and John Griffith and wife Peggy of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Olivia Mitchell of Tifton, Georgia, Robby Gibbs of Macon, Georgia, Shelley Carder of Jasper, Georgia, Benjamin Griffith and wife Katie of Eunice, and Cacy Legnion and wife Maggie of Tyler, Texas; nephews Cody Glen Griffith and wife Candy and Lance Chauvin and wife Christine, all of Bayou Chicot; nieces Karen Griffith and Wanda Dupre and husband John Ellis, all of Bayou Chicot; and numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers include Cody Glen Griffith, Evan Griffith, Robert Chauvin, Barry Fontenot, Jordan Fontenot, and Launey Patton Griffith.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be directed to the Louisiana State Arboretum via the Louisiana Parks Foundation.

Whitney James, Sr. passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the age of 75.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Chapel in Vidrine. Entombment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lake Charles. Father Alphonse Thainese will officiate.
Whitney is survived by three sons, Daniel James of Mamou, LA, Whitney James, Jr. and wife Sherada of Eunice, LA, and Patrick James and wife Demetria of Katy, TX; one daughter, Lisa Warren of Cedar Hill, TX; three brothers, Oswald James of Lake Charles, Harold James of Houston, TX, and Perry Lee James of Houston, TX; five sisters, Gertrude Biegas of Opelousas, Orelia Colligan of Beaumont, TX, Maxie Plummer of Houston, TX, Delores Guillory of Houston, TX, and Gloria Richard of Orange, TX; nineteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Whitney was preceded in death by his parents, Willie James and Louise Guilbeaux James; his wife, Annie JohnWell James; three brothers, Roy James, Ralph James, and Renee James.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015, at Quirk & Son Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM by Deacon Chuck Ortego. The funeral home will reopen on Saturday for visitation until time of service.
