EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ronald “Ronny” Sylvester announces his passing on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the age of 58. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Dustin Dought officiating.
A wonderful father, brother, grandfather and friend Ronny will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his son, Tony “Mike” Sylvester and wife, Roxanne, and his daughter, Tonya Sylvester all of Denver, Colorado; two brothers, Robert J. Sylvester and wife Kathy of Port Barre, and Kenneth J. Sylvester of Sunset; four sisters, Sandra S. Doga and her late husband, Donald Doga of Opelousas, Theresa S. Anderson and husband, Bruce of Krotz Springs, Debra R. S. Fontenot and husband, Gary, and Alice S. Pastorick and husband, Dale all of Eunice; and seven grandchildren, Cody Aucoin, Aliyah Aucoin, Trinity Beulah, Angelina Sylvester, Monica Sylvester, Sara Sylvester and Celina Sylvester.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Helen Carey Sylvester.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, March 17th from 9:00 am until time of services.

EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Jeanette D. Miller announces her passing on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at her home at the age of 69. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Msgr. Romero Celebrant.
Jeanette was a longtime tax preparer/ accountant and home interior decorator. She will always be remembered for her big heart, always helping others and she was known for her homemade candies and bread. But most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her husband of 51 years, Bailey J. Miller, Sr. of Eunice; her four children, Madonna Miller Brown and Charles James of Basile, Bailey J. Miller, Jr. and wife, Denise of Denham Springs, Andrew Miller and wife, Andrea of Sunset and Jeff Miller and wife, Neysa of Eunice; her mother, Cecile Arabie Deshotel of New Orleans; two brothers, Harold Deshotel of Youngsville and Russell Deshotel of Friendswood, TX; five sisters, Mary Elaine D. Mille of New Orleans, Brenda D. Moreau of Moss Bluff, Sandra D. Coloun of New Orleans, Nancy D. LeCoq of Scott and Yvonne D. Rheams of Denham Springs; and the fourteen joys of her life her grandchildren, Amily B. Arnaud, Sarah A., Matthew B., Lauren A., Adam L., and Jake B. Brown, Rachel L, Joseph, Victoria, Zachary, John Ross, Layne and Grace Miller, and Caroline M. Thomas and nine great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, Melvin Deshotel, Jr and a brother Hillary Deshotel.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, March 17th from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Wednesday, March 18th from 10:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Tuesday evening.

James "Judge Mac" Ray McClelland

Judge James R. McClelland passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 15, 2015 at his home in Franklin, Louisiana surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with ALS.
Judge McClelland was born on June 21, 1946 in Eunice, Louisiana, the son of Rufus Ray McClelland and Florene Nunn McClelland. Jim was raised on a rice farm in Elton, Louisiana where he graduated valedictorian of his Elton High School class in May of 1964. He went to LSU where he earned a Chemical Engineering Degree in 1969, an MBA In 1971 and a Juris Doctor Degree from LSU Law School with honors as a member of Order of the Coif in May 1975. He was a member of the Louisiana Law Review. Jim was in the ROTC program at LSU for 6 years and served 3 months active duty in the U.S. Army. Jim was an avid LSU fan having had season tickets for the past 40 years for football, baseball, basketball and softball.
Having been admitted to practice before the Louisiana Supreme Court in October 1975, Jim was also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana. Judge McClelland and his wife of 4 years, Sandy Tate McClelland, then moved to Franklin, Louisiana where he practiced law from 1975-2009 with the law firm of Aycock, Horne & Coleman where he became a partner in 1978. He was also the founder of the Public Defender Board & served as a Public Defender from 1975-81, and an Assistant District Attorney in the 16th Judicial District Court from 1981-2008 when he was elected Judge for the 16th Judicial District Division D and took office on January 1, 2009. In addition to his regular duties Judge McClelland also presided over the St. Mary Parish Adult Drug Treatment Court & DWI court and Juvenile Drug Treatment Center for 4 years. Jim was active with the Louisiana State Bar Association from 1982-2005 where he served in the House of Delegates, Board of Governors, and as Secretary of the LSBA. He was a charter member of the American Inns of Court – Inns on the Teche having served as President from 2010 -2011 and received the Professionalism award from the Inns in 2012. Judge McClelland served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Bar Foundation.
Judge McClelland, sometimes known as “Coach” to many of the young people he coached in pee wee football, little league baseball and biddy basketball as well as Hanson’s girls basketball, enjoyed many years of mentoring and leading young people in the Franklin Community.
Judge McClelland belonged to many civic, religious and professional organizations including the Church of the Assumption, Morgan City and Iberia Bowling Leagues, Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at LSU in 1975, & board of directors of the Franklin-Baldwin-Centerville Chamber of Commerce. He served as St. Mary Parish Council Legal Advisor from 1997-2009. Judge McClelland served as a member of the Governor’s Advisory Board of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention under Governor Murphy J. “Mike” Foster, Jr. from 1997-2004. Jim was inducted into the Morgan City USBC Bowling Association Hall of Fame on May 18, 2013. He was named as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America for 1978, named an honored professional of the national directory of Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals from 1996-97, Strathmore’s Who’s Who Lifetime Member & the Marquis Who’s Who Publications Board Who’s Who in America .
Judge McClelland was preceded in death by his Father Rufus Ray McClelland and his mother, Florene Nunn McClelland as well as his father in law, Fred Tate.
Judge James R. McClelland is survived by his wife of 44 years, the former Sandra Tate, of Mamou, Louisiana; two sons, Joseph Ray McClelland and his wife Hope Henry McClelland of Gray, Louisiana, Jeffrey Ross McClelland and his wife Danielle Landreneau McClelland of Lafayette, Louisiana, two young women who became daughters to him, Jamie Young Smith of Duson, Louisiana and Jodie Young Dardeau and her husband Daniel Dardeau of Carencro, Louisiana, four grandsons: Noah, Alexander, and Ren Dardeau from Carencro, and Ryder McClelland of Gray; seven granddaughters: Hattie and Eliza McClelland from Lafayette, Carlynn Henry and Gracie Bourg from Gray, Eden Dardeau from Carencro, and Chloe and Hannah Smith from Duson, one brother, Thomas “Tommy” McClelland and his wife Patsy Toups McClelland from Elton, his mother in law, Carina “Sue” Vasseur of Mamou, an Aunt, Louise “Sammie” McClelland from Elton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom he was very fond of.
The family wishes to especially acknowledge the Judge’s beloved caregivers, Chris Gatte, Melvina Morris, Ydell Washington, Ginger Jones , and Ramona Benjamin, as well as Journey Hospice of Houma, Louisiana, especially Ginger Guidry and Amanda Brewer. Special thanks to Dr. Stephen Kantrow of LSU Health Services ALS Clinic in New Orleans & Dr. Brent Allain of Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the Louisiana-Mississippi Chapter of ALS Association or to the Hanson/St. John foundation FBO James R. McClelland fund, 903 Anderson Street Franklin, Louisiana 70538.
Visitations will be from 5-9 on Tuesday, March 17 at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Franklin, LA with a Rosary being prayed at 7 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 9 AM at Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary until shortly before the funeral service. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 18 at 11 AM at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The mass will be co-celebrated by Father Michael J. Russo and Father Lloyd Benoit with the Rev. O’Neal Landry.
Pallbearers will be the Judge’s nephews, Drew and Jack McClelland, Mark Carriere, and Chad Veillon, as well as Edward LeBlanc and Brady Holtzclaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Julie LeBourgeois, Tommy McClelland, Cliff Dressel, Sidney Hebert, David Harris, Vincent Borne, Larry Deslatte, Jimmy Senette, Andy Reed, Carroll Fuselier, Gerry Block, Lyle Simoneaux, Matt LeBlanc & John Freshley.
Burial will follow in the China Cemetary in Elton, Louisiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou, Louisiana.

BASILE~It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Natalie Courville Bertrand announces her passing on Monday, March 16, 2015 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was 43. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Henry Broussard Celebrant assisted by Deacon Gary Gaudin Homilist.
She was a teacher for 20 years having taught at Oberlin Elementary, W.W.Stewart and Basile High School. Natalie was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Ladies Altar Society, Eucharistic Minister and Lector as well as the Bazaar Chairperson. Above all this she was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her husband, Tony Bertrand of Basile; her three children, Nick, Ben and Lauren Bertrand all of Basile; her two sisters, Montez Courville Fulton, and husband Seth of Iowa and Jeri Courville Guinn, and husband Scott of Pollock; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Mary Esther Haas Courville; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome C. Haas, Sr., (Blanche); and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Courville, (Lillie).
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Tuesday, March 17th from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Wednesday, March 18th from 7:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening by Deacon Gary Gaudin.
Memorial donations will be accepted by the family to help fund the Natalie Bertrand Award at future graduations.

LEORINA HILDA “CHEEKIE’’ JONES
EUNICE ~ Visitation for Leorina Hilda “Cheekie” Jones 81, will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 8:00 am to 10:45 am with funeral services following at 11:00 am, both at St. Mathilda Catholic Church, 800 East Laurel, Eunice. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in the St. Mathilda Catholic Church Cemetery. Father Darren Elridge will officiate at the service.
Leorina passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at 3:45 pm at Opelousas General Hospital.
Leorina was a very devoted and faithful member of St. Mathilda Church, former Educator at St. Mathilda School and she also taught CCD classes, and administered Communion to the sick and shut-in.
Leorina was a graduate of Charles Drew High School, Southern University, and University of Southwestern, LA (now known as ULL). She loved to watch westerns, drink coffee, and help others reach their full potential. She was an exceptional woman of dignity and humility. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, teacher, and friend. She was a resident of Eunice, LA where she was surrounded by the love of all her family and friends.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Jones Richard (Bennett) of Eunice; one sister, Helen Prudhomme of Eunice; two grandchildren; Rashaan Jones and Raven Jones, both of Eunice; and one great-grandchild; Zyahrie Jones.
Leorina was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Marshall Vigers; Mrs. Edna W. Vigers; husband, Mr. Leroy Jones; brothers, Frank, Marshall and Burt Vigers; sisters, Gertrude Baldwin and Leona Holmes.
Pallbearers will be: Charles Vigers, Spencer Hal, John K. Prudhomme, Anthony Prudhomme, Jr., Hershel Prudhomme and Pierre Prudhomme.

Betty passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 6:08 am in Houston, Texas.
Betty was a resident of Houston for 40 plus years and a native of Eunice. Betty was one of the first African Americans to graduate from Eunice High School. She received her Associates Degree in Computerized Accounting from The University of Houston Downtown. She worked for Lutheran Church Supply as head Bookkeeper for 27 years. To know her is to love her.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory a host of family and friends. Survivors include three sons: Charles Rogers (Rashawn), Marcus Moore (Artrina), Jerrard Furlough (Octavia), all of Houston, TX; one daughter, Jahzie Ford of Houston, TX; four brothers: Joseph Rogers (Hazel) of Winnie, TX, Louis Rogers (Carolyn) of Larue, TX, Robert Rogers (Essie), of Houston, TX, and L.C. Rogers (Marie) of Eunice; one sister, Estelle Rogers of Lake Charles; and 6 grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Bennette Roger and Mrs. Ester Rogers; husband, Sylvester Peters; 7 brothers: Abraham, Harrison, Leroy, Leonard, Jacob, L.J. and William; and one son, Keith “Chippy’’ Rogers.
Pallbearers will be: Anthony Rogers, Daniel Rogers, Harrison Rogers, Jr., Lamonte Rogers, Robert Burrell and Louis Rogers, Jr.

Robert is survived by one daughter, Karen Schambough of Eunice; two sons, Rev. William Schambough
of Milton, LA, and Bryan Schambough of Eunice; one brother, Roger Schambough of Scott, LA; two sisters,
Hilda Degetaire of Jeanerette, LA, and JoAnn Guillory of Eunice; and one grandchild, Gavin Miller.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Gurvis Schambough and Elta Fuselier Schambough; his wife,
Mary Ann Williams Schambough.

Dr. Alton Ray LeJeune

EUNICE~It is with the heaviest hearts and great sadness that the family of Alton Ray LeJeune announces his sudden passing on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice at the age of 74. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 20, 2015 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
Dr. A.R. LeJeune, Sr was a chiropractor for 40 plus years as well as a avid hunter and fisherman and he liked to travel, but most of all he loved his family. He will forever be loved and missed by everyone whose hearts he touched especially his wife, Delores “Dee” LeJeune of Eunice; his four children, Lisa Guillory and husband, John and Dr. Kevin LeJeune and wife, Donna all of Eunice, Ken LeJeune and wife, Kim of Church Point and Monique LeJeune and Christopher Gobert of Eunice; two step children, Caraline Campbell and husband, Terry of Pine Prairie and Michael Landreneau and wife, Kim of Vidrine; a sister, Mary Ann Rabalais of Pineville. He was blessed with eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Annie Matt LeJeune; son Dr. Alton LeJeune, II; two brothers, Lurling and Robert LeJeune; step daughter, Shannon Chapman; two step grandchildren, Jade Fuselier and Brock Landreneau.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Thursday, March 19th from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Friday, March 20th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Thursday evening.

Doris Beauvais Eldred
1930 To 2014
HARVEY ~ Doris Beauvais Eldred, age 84, passed away peacefully December 27, 2014 after living for the past several years with Alzheimer’s disease. Born and raised in Gretna, Louisiana, Doris was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Myrtle Beauvais. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Earl James Eldred.
Doris’s memory will be cherished by her three children, Frank Eldred and his wife, Sandy, of Denver CO, John Eldred and his wife, Fran, of Houston, TX and Penny Barry and her husband, Paul, of Winter Springs FL; 8 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; and her sister Audrey Ezzo of Algiers, LA.
Doris was a devoted mother, daughter and sister. She worked for twenty years in the St. Landry Parish public school system as the office administrator and bookkeeper of Eunice Jr. High and Eunice High School. She retired in 1994. She had a great influence on many lives. She leaves behind many friends in the Gretna, LA area, and in Eunice, LA where she spent 50 years of her life.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00am at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA followed by a Celebration of Life Reception.

Dorothy Ransom Summerlin

EUNICE~Dorothy Summerlin, age 87, passed away Thursday March 19, 2015 at Oak Lane Nursing. She was born March 23, 1927 and affectionately called “Tee” by all who knew her.
Dorothy was married to J.B. “Johnny” Summerlin until his death in 1973. Together they had six children. Jean Summerlin Tanner, Harry B. Summerlin, and wife Jeanie of Eunice, Louisiana; Archie Summerlin, and wife Phyllis of San Antonio, Texas; Damien Summerlin; Michelle Summerlin-Yergan of Saratoga, New York and Renee Fleming and husband Perry of Mascoutah, Illinois.
In addition to her children she was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy raised her children and then went on to care for countless other children as the cook for a local daycare. She was a member of a local rosary group, bowling league and cherished her years as the Director of Aerobics for the elderly at the Eunice Community Center. She gave her life to love and serve her family, friends and community and she will be missed by all.
She is preceded in death by parents Dewey ”Shorty” and Edith Young Ransom, husband J.B. Summerlin, daughter Jean Tanner, son Damien Summerlin, brother Don Ransom and sister Jeanette DeCuire and Betty Richard Blair.
At the request of the family visitation will be at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on March 23 starting at 8:00am until the time of services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:00pm at St. Anthony of Padua in Eunice with burial to follow at Mt.Calvary Cemetery with Father Dustin Dought Celebrant. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 10:00 am.
Memorial donations in the name of Dorothy Summerlin may be made to St. Edmund Catholic School of Eunice, Louisiana or a charity of choice.

BASILE~It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Nichole Daigle Thibodeaux announces her passing on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the age of 40. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Basile. Burial will follow in the Ashford Cemetery with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
Nichole was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Precious memories of her will remain forever in the hearts of those who love her especially her husband, Eugene Thibodeaux of Duralde; her mother, Priscilla Daigle of Basile; her four children, Justin Daigle of Duralde, Kristin Thibodeaux of Basile, Kaitlyn and Chelsie Thibodeaux both of Duralde; her two brothers, Jason Daigle of Duralde and Chad Matt of Church Point; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Nickie Daigle; and her brother, Kirk Daigle.

Sandra is survived by her father, Rodney Lee Bushnell, Sr. of Oberlin; her husband, Larry Lejeune of Eunice; one daughter, Theresa L Daigle and husband Richard of Eunice; one son, Dale Luke Lejeune of Richard; two sisters, Pauline Bushnell of Eunice and Marie Savoy of Lafayette; three brothers, Michael Savoy of Kaplan, Russell Savoy of Eunice, and Rodney Bushnell, Jr. of Eunice; and two grandchildren, Joshua Paul Daigle and Harper Ray Lejeune.
Sandra was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Johnson and one brother, Ernest Peres.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. by Angela Huckaby. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday for visitation until the time of service.

Annie is survived by her husband, Whitney James, Sr. of Mamou, LA; three sons, Daniel James of Mamou, LA, Whitney James, Jr. and wife Sherada of Eunice, LA, and Patrick James and wife Demetria of Kati, TX; one daughter, Lisa Warren of Cedar Hill, TX; one brother, Clifton Johnwell of California; three sisters, Camile F. Soileau of Mamou, LA, Irene Ceasar of Lake Charles, LA, and Laura Arceneaux of Houston, TX; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Comeluis Johnwell and Ozia P. Johnwell; one brother, Cleveland Fontenot; and three sisters, Ethel Johnwell, Eva Fontenot, and Tellie Mae Johnwell.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Quirk & Son Funeral Home from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM.

EUNICE~Joel L. “Butch” Bollich, beloved husband of 30 years to Elizabeth B. “Libby” Bollich died in the comfort of his home in Covington, LA on March 22, 2015. A native of Basile, he was 74 years old and had resided in Covington for the past 29 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata. Interment will follow in the St. Lawrence Mausoleum with Father Joseph Sai Tran Celebrant.
Butch started college at South Western and graduated from McNeese State College in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science. He worked in the oil industry for more than 35 years, beginning with local Acadian oilfield companies before briefly working for Schlumberger and then spending the next 30 years at Shell. He was employed in a range of locations both onshore and off, with operational roles in Drilling and Producing Operations, concluding his career as a foreman.
He was a man that you could always find outside whether he was taking a bike trip on his Harley Davidson or practicing one of his many other hobbies such as playing tennis, boating, fishing, squirrel hunting, camping, and cooking over an open fire in his black pot. He loved working with his hands and had an inventive spirit which resulted in among other things in a patent for Shell Oil Company.
He was a loving and supportive father and he adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they adored him and his lovely spirit that will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his children, Steve, Kent and his wife, Anna, Suzan and Donna Bollich; five grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Joseph Bollich and Dorothy Alpha Bollich.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Tuesday, March 24th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Wednesday, March 25th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening.

Sue Broussard

Basile - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Sue Broussard at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015, in the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile, LA. Reverend David Hebert will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Broussard, age 73, a resident of Basile, LA and former resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Sue worked in several managerial positions throughout her life. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling the country and abroad. The most important part of her life was her family. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Broussard, of Basile, LA; her sons, J.D. Gardner and wife, Katherine, of Carencro, LA; Danny R. Gardner of Brandon, MS; her daughter, Memrie Gardner of Brandon, MS; six step-children; her brothers, Malcom Gainey of Union, MS; Jimmy Gainey of Jackson, MS; her sisters, Wynette McBeath of Vicksburg, MS; Angela Knight of Meridian, MS; Debra Sylvester of Brandon, MS and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Danielle Gardner, Danny Gardner, Jr. and Brandon J. Gardner and host of step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Merle Gainey; her spouses Jacob E. Fa-Kouri and Jim Gardner.
Visitation will be held at the Ardoin Funeral Home of Basile, 1210 South Ryan Street, Basile, LA 70515 on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Friday, March 20, 2015, Herman departed his earthly adobe at Oak Lane Nursing Home and took flight to the Promised Land.
Cherishing fond memories of him will be his devoted daughter: Romona Leday Davis of Little Rock, AK; three sisters: Sally (Lloyd) Fontenot and Linda Helen (Alton) Thomas both of Chataignier, LA and Shirley Calvin of Lake Charles, LA; one grandchild: Ross Edward Davis of Little Rock, AK; a sister-in-law: Marie Calvin of Chataignier, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

EUNICE ~ Visitation for Helen “Toeya’’ Viges Prudhomme, age 82 will be from 8:00 am to 10:00 am with funeral services following at 10:00 am Saturday, March 28, 2015, both at Golden Star Baptist Church. 723 Anne St., Eunice, LA. Burial will follow in the Zion Travelers Cemetery in Mallet, LA with Pastor Johnathan Williams, Sr. officiating.
Helen passed away at her residence in Eunice at 6:47 pm on March 21, 2015.
Helen V. Prudhomme was born July 7, 1932 to the union of Marshall and Edna Viges. She attended school at St. Mathilda Catholic School. On October 3, 1952 she married Marion Prudhomme. Helen accepted Christ into her life at a very early age. She was a faithful member of C.H. Mason Memorial C.O.G.I.C. for 43 years and was a very faithful worker in the Church Cafeteria. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Being a neighborhood Mom she was very well liked in her community. She was a giving, caring and kind loving lady and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include: seven sons: John Robert Prudhomme (Stephanie), Anthony Prudhomme, John Edward Prudhomme, Dennis Prudhomme, Reginald Prudhomme all of Eunice, Marion Prudhomme, Jr. (LeVelma) of Monroe, and Marion Prudhomme (Hilda) of Artesia, CA; four daughters: Pamela Daigle (Charles) and Marilyn Chapman (Clifton) both of Eunice, Cora Swanson (Claude) of Humble, TX, and Elaine Davis (Clarence) of San Antonio, TX; one brother, Willie Belton of Basile; 32 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Marshall Viges and Mrs. Edna W. Viges; husband, Mr. Marion Prudhomme; one son, Christopher Prudhomme; three sisters: Gertrude Baldwin, Leorina Hulda James, and Leona Holmes; three brothers: Frank, Marshall and Burt Viges; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be: Anthony Prudhomme, Jr., Vacques A. Prudhomme, Herschel Prudhomme, John K. Prudhomme, Traven Richardson, and Rashaan Jones.

EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Ethelette “Telette” Fontenot Thibodeaux announces her passing on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice at the age of 66. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, March 30, 2015 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Father David Hebert Celebrant.
Ethelette, or “Telette” as she was affectionately called by family and friends loved and supported her Saints and LSU football teams. She enjoyed praying the rosary with her rosary group as well as playing bingo at the nursing home with her friends. She loved her great nieces and great nephews and spending time with her family brought a great deal of joy to her life. But most of all she was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her especially her son, Bart L. Thibodeaux of Baton Rouge; her daughter, Buffie Gauthier and husband, Jeremy of Denham Springs; her two brothers, Joseph Hubert Fontenot and Chester Paul Fontenot and wife, Mary all of Eunice; her sister, Leola Granger and husband Earl “Butch” of Eunice; the three joys of her life her grandchildren, Colton O’Neal, Kaylee Thibodeaux and Camden O’Neal; as well as many nieces , nephews and extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Batson and Ethel Abshire Fontenot; brothers, infant Andrew D. Fontenot and Otis James Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice on Sunday, March 29th from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Monday, March 30th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm Sunday evening.

MAMOU- It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Betty M. Newsom, 82, announces her passing on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Oak lane Wellness and Rehabilitation in Eunice. Chapel services will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Ardoin Funeral Chapel in Mamou. Burial will follow in the First Baptist Cemetery Rev. Elie Woerner and Rev. Travis Turner officiating.
Betty grew up in Smackover Arkansas. She married Marvin Guy Newsom, Sr. in 1951.Betty and Marvin moved to Mamou, Louisiana in 1953 where they raised their family. Betty taught the Ladies Bible Study at the First Baptist Church in Ville Platte where they were members for over 35 years. Mrs. Newsom worked as Town Clerk for the Town of Mamou for 20 years. She served on the Council of aging and was a Pink Lady for Savoy Medical Center. She also was a wonderful baker and loved to share her pies with other people.
Betty Newsom is survived by her sister, Mary Manley Reed of Ashdown Arkansas; her four sons, Marvin Guy Newsom, Jr and wife, Nancy of Henderson, Co, James Newsom and wife Shannon of Eunice, La, Bryan Newsom and wife, Michelle of Eunice, La and Scott Newsom and wife, Chasity of Mamou, La; ten grandchildren, Dr.Kyle Newsom and wife, Bethany of Shreveport, La, Aaron Newsom and wife, Danielle of Lafayette, La, Lauren Martinez and husband, Chris of Greeley, Co, Frank Newsom of Henderson, Co, Katy James and husband, Ryan of Crowley, La, Ashley Newsom, Neil Newsom, Wesley Newsom of Eunice, La, Keri Beth Newsom of Lafayette and Samuel Newsom of Mamou, La; four great-grandchildren and one on the way, Karleigh and Erin Newsom , Greyson James and Adelyn Newsom
She will now reunite in Heaven with her parents, Thelma Campbell and Ralph Nichols Manley, one son, Thomas Neil Newsom and her husband, Marvin Guy Newsom, Sr. They surely await her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts
