Murphy Chapman passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the age of 70.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at CH Mason Church of God in Christ in Eunice. Elder Johnathan Williams will officiate.
Murphy is survived by his wife, Lou S. Chapman of Eunice; two daughters, Shaliquia Chapman Givs of Lake Charles and Erica Vigers of Eunice; five sons, Mark Edwards of Eunice, Demon Edwards of Lake Charles, Douglas Edwards of Eunice, Curley Chapman of Lake Charles, and Eric Vigers; two sisters, Dorothy Poullard of Eunice and Joyce Lavelie of Port Arthur; two brothers, Aaron Henchett of Houston, TX and Elven Henchett of Lake Charles; twenty-six grandchildren; and numerous
great-grandchildren.
Murphy was preceded in death by his parents, Curley Chapman and Sleager Charles Chapman; two sisters, Ruthie Gallow and Irma Jean Henchett; and three brothers, Irvin Henchett, Warren Henchett, and Leron Henchett.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

He was 86. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 09, 2016 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Father Sensat, Celebrant.
A proud veteran, Gil served in the United States Army. Left to cherish his memory, his three loving daughters, Melinda Medina and husband, Jose and Donna Granger and husband, Calum all of Richard and Shonda Aguour and husband, Houcine of Forth Worth, TX. The ten joys of his life his grandchildren, Brooke Granger, Leslie Medina, Megan Granger, Melissa M. Garcia, Daniel Medina, Ali Granger, Amia Rumback, Alex Rumback, Nick Medina and Emilie Granger and ten great grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Douget Fontenot; parents, Moise and Marie Manuel Fontenot; three brothers, Ira, Clarence and Morel ''Black'' Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice on Friday, January 8th from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Saturday, January 9th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon David Guillory will recite a Rosary at 7:00 pm Friday evening.

Cesiley is survived by her father, Kent Moody of Eunice; one son, Devin Adam Thibodeaux of Opelousas; one daughter, Alaina Renee Slaughter; two brothers, Conan Moody of Youngsville and Kyle Virk of Eunice; one sister,
Shawna Virk of Baton Rouge.
Cesiley was preceded in death by her mother, Renee Aguillard; one brother, Caleb Moody.

Lelia Benoit Roy passed away at her residence on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the age of 73.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. Deacon David Guillory will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Eunice.
She is survived by her companion, Joe Benoit of Eunice; her son, Robert Roy and his wife Hope of Church Point; three daughters, Geraldine Smith of Sunset, Judy Darby and husband Michael of Arnaudville, and Vickie Johnson and her husband James of Eunice; one brother, John Benoit of Mamou; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Lelia was preceded in death by her parents, Ovey Benoit and Julie Guilbeaux Benoit; two brothers, Felix and Alfred Benoit; a sister, Amelia Dupre.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2016, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed Sunday evening at 6:00 PM by Deacon David Guillory.
The funeral home will reopen for visitation on Monday at 8:00 AM until the time of service.

McCrea, age 54, with interment following in the Southside Cemetery in Jennings, LA. Father Anthony Rogoli will be officiating. Zannette passed away Friday, January 8, 2016 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Zannette was a Pharmacist for approximately 30 years. She enjoyed traveling, socializing, but most of all Mardi Gras.
Survivors include: her spouse, David N. McCrea of Gretna, LA; son, David M. MCrea, Jr. of Houston, TX; daughter, Elizabeth McCrea of Metaire, LA; four brothers: Sidney E. Briscoe III of Lake Charles, LA, Keith J. Briscoe of San Diego, CA; Darryl J. Briscoe, Sr. of Houston, TX, and Bryan J. Briscoe of Austin, TX; five sisters: Linda M. Briscoe of Houston, TX, Lenore Rice of San Antonio, TX, Sheryl Townsell of Austin, TX, Andrea Suzzette Mouton of Rayne, LA, and Maria Elizabeth Briscoe of Welsh, LA; and 3 grandchildren.

EUNICE~The Miller family announces the celebration of life for Dr. Jack D. Miller, Sr. who passed peacefully at his home on January 12, 2016 at the age of 84. He touched many lives as an Optometrist for over 40 years. He is well known and remembered as a faithful and loving man devoted to his family, friends, and Christian faith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the Miller Cemetery with Msgr. Robert Romero, Celebrant.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him especially his four children, Jack D. Miller, Jr and wife, Donna and Joan M. Richard and husband, Wayne all of Eunice, Robert W. Miller and wife, Louisa of Baton Rouge and Randy Miller and wife, Mary of Eunice; four siblings, Betty Elfert and husband, Joe of Labadieville, Ben Miller and wife, Kathryn of Eunice, Jim Miller of DeQuincy and Deanna Bischoff and husband, Julius of Eunice; the twelve joys of his life his twelve grandchildren, Stefan Miller, Tyler Miller, Alex miller and wife, Brandi, Kelli F. Margaret Ardoin Francois passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at the age of 80.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home.

She is survived by her son, Jarrad Francois and wife Monica of Eunice; four daughters, Melissia Richard and husband Bryan of Baton Rouge, Mitz LeBeoux and husband Troy of Acworth, GA,
Mandy Francois of Eunice, and Mia Brignac and husband Michael of Eunice; one sister, Mildred Boudreaux of Branch; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Azile Ardoin and Mathilda Fruge Ardoin; one brother, Lloyd Ardoin.

RAWLINS, WY ~ Jimmy Dale Taylor, 43, of Rawlins, WY passed away on January 10, 2016 of natural causes.
Jimmy was born in Lafayette, LA on June 26, 1972. He graduated from Carencro High School in 1991 and enlisted in the United States Navy.
Jimmy worked as a Safety Instructor for Wyoming Montana Safety Council. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool and spending time with family and friends.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his wife Heather Taylor; his five sons, Gavin Taylor (Tanya Broussard), Bryce Taylor, Caleb Taylor, Christian Taylor and Austin Young; one daughter, Ashley Young; his mother, Dianna Simon (Curly); his father, Danny Taylor (Rita); one sister, Michelle Miller (Darrin); and his in-laws, Jesse and Pauline Martinez and Sherry Beedle and William Hahn.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister, Yvonne Leary; his brother, Donny Taylor; and his grandparents, Wilton and Agnes Decuir and Rocky and Ruby Wescott.
A Vigil Service with recitation of the Rosary will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rawlins.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Sam Hayes as the Celebrant. Lunch will be served at St. Joseph’s gymnasium following the Mass.

Mr. Allison departed this life on January 11, 2016 at the Acadian Medical Center in Eunice, LA.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Allyssa and Jada Allison both of Eunice, LA,; two sisters: Debra Allison Anderson and Christianity Allison Doyle both of Eunice, LA; two brothers: Lawrence Percy Allison, Jr. of Eunice, LA; Benjamin Allison, Sr. of Buffalo, NY, Lonnie Allison, Sr. of Eunice, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

MAMOU-It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Berna Kuntze announces her passing at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou on January 13, 2016 at 1:15 p.m., at the age of 90. Chapel services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2.016 at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in the New St. Ann's Mausoleum with Pastor David Plunket officiating.
Berna retired as a seaman in the Merchant Marines.
A wonderful Sister, aunt and friend Berna will be greatly missed by her brother, Johnny of Mamou; two sisters, Bernice Siebert of Mamou and Joyce Powell of Eunice; numerous nieces and nephews.
Berna will now reunite in Heaven with her parents, Yourick and Jeanne Guillory, two brothers, Joseph Enos Guillory, burley Guillory; three half-brothers, Yourick Guillory, Jr, George Louis Guillory and Rodney Guillory; one step-brother, Clement Pommier and two step-sisters, Emily Duke and Ruby Flores. They surely await her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.

and Dustin Matt and wife Heather of Opelousas; one sister, Gail Milliken of Crowley; two brothers, Gerald Matt of Eunice and Sylvester Smith of Chicago; and eight grandchildren.
Darryl was preceded in death by his father, Otis J. Matt; one sister, Sabrina Matt; and one brother, Brent Matt.

Ramona is survived by four sisters, Patsy Fontenot of Soileau, Nora Mitchell and husband Jack of Lake Charles, Francis Ortego of Basile, and Linda Fruge and husband Roger of Laccassine; one brother, Rapheal Aymond and wife Louanna of Lake Charles; thirty-three nieces and nephews; sixty-three great nieces and nephews; and multiple great-great nieces and nephews.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, Norris Aymond and Ollie Guillory Aymond; one sister, Shirley Duplechain; and two brothers, Morris Aymond and Herbert Aymond.

James Benjamin Darby III

James Benjamin Darby, III passed away peacefully at the Veterans Affairs Palliative Care Unit in Pineville, LA on Monday, January 18, 2016, after a long battle with cancer.
Benny was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 27, 1945. He graduated from Eunice High School in 1964, after which he proudly served in the United States Army including a tour of duty in Vietnam with the 9th Infantry Division. During his service, he received a Bronze Star for heroism in ground combat and an Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service.
After returning from Vietnam and completing his military service, he earned a degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1973, with a double major in English and Journalism and a minor in History. He then began a long and rewarding career in journalism for both the Beauregard Daily News and the Eunice News.
He retired to his hometown of Eunice, but never slowed down in his joy of reading and insatiable curiosity about history.
Upon learning his diagnosis of cancer Ben decided to forgo a funeral or memorial and donate his body to science for the study of disease prevention and education of future doctors. In his last months, he often joked that he never thought he would be able to go to medical school, but was excited he was now getting the opportunity.
Ben was predeceased by his beloved parents, James B. (Jim) Darby, Jr. and Mildred Aileen Smith of Eunice, La.
Ben is survived by a son, Jameson Darby and daughter-in-law Heather Darby; a daughter, Amanda Darby; a sister Darla Darby Baker, and brother-in-law Duane Baker and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, Ben asked that donations be made to two places close to his heart: The Veterans Affairs Hospital in Pineville or the Eunice Public Library.

Opelousas ~ A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary Anita Labbe` Lanclos, age 74 at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Father Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass.
Mary Anita was a resident of Opelousas. She passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2015, at Lafayette General Hospital. Mary Anita worked at the Opelousas and Eunice Public Library system as Technical Assistant for 24 Years. She also worked at South Central Bell Company as a switchboard operator.
Survivors include children, Karen Hessler and her husband Richard of Opelousas, Carla Deavers and her husband, Michael of Houston, TX., and Lisa Miller and her husband, Andre’ of Eunice, brothers, Saul Labbe` and his wife, Janelle of Prairieville, Ivan Paul Labbe’ Jr., of Baton Rouge, and Charles Lynn Labbe` and his wife, Kathleen of Baton Rouge, sisters, Loretta Gail Denson and her husband, Kirby of Baton Rouge, and Beverly Corbello and her husband, Howard “Bud’ of Grosse Tete, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by husband, James Raphael Lanclos, parents, Ivan Paul, Sr., and Ida Perron Labbe`.
The visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2016, and will reopen on Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.

Kathy will now reunite in Heaven with her husband, Elvin Bruce Fontenot and her parents, Willie and Thelma Cormier Smith. They surely await her arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the Fontenot family visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 8:00 am until time of Services.
In lieu of flowers family request donations be made in Kathleen's honor to American Cancer Society.

Austin Joseph Briscoe passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at the age of 18.
Austin is survived by his father, Jeremy Scott Briscoe and stepmother, Heather of Eunice; one sister, McKenzie Briscoe of Eunice; paternal grandparents, Randy (Paw) and Melissa (Maw) Briscoe of Eunice and Debra Smith (Maw Maw Debbie)
of Eunice; maternal grandparents, Jerry and step-grandmother, Sherry Guy of Splendora, TX, and Sharon and step-grandfather, Jerry Eldridge of Cleveland, TX; great paternal grandparents, Human and Theresa Briscoe and Allen and Hazel Smith; and maternal great grandparents, Warren Guy, Sr. and Dorothy Louise Meeks.
Austin was preceded in death by his mother, Debra Darlene Guy Briscoe.
Arrangements are pending at this time.
