Mr. Fontenot passed away on Tuesday, July 05, 2016 at 8:10 am at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice.
Jules proudly served his Country in the United States Army as a French translator in ''occupied'' France during World War II. He and his wife, Ella Mae were married for 71 years and they loved fishing and playing cards with friends.
A loving, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Jules will be greatly missed by his; two sons Donald Fontenot and wife, Sara of Pineville, and Mark Fontenot and wife, Yvette of Easton; four daughters, Dorothy Serlin and husband, Phillip of Stanton, CA, Betty Vegas and husband, William of LaRose, Theresa Miller and husband, Shelton of Egan and Susan Bergeron and husband Paul of Eunice; one brother, Currie Fontenot of Tioga; thirteen grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren.
He will now rest in Heaven with his wife, Ella Mae Guillory Fontenot, his parents, Jules and Armenia Joubert Fontenot; siblings, Orise Fontenot, Alma Arno, Earline Thompson and Thomas Fontenot; grandchildren, Kristyn Leigh Fontenot, Rebecca Sliman and Elizabeth Campbell. They surely await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.

Alban known to many as "A.J. and Dr. Roques" retired from LSUE where he was head of the math department and a professor teaching young adults for over 30 years. He liked to jog, fish, garden, wood working, coached little league baseball and was a LSU football fan. But most of all he was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife of 49 years, Nancy A. Roques of Eunice; his two sons, Jason Roques of Baton Rouge and Kevin Roques and wife, Jennifer of Lafayette; his two brothers, Maurice and Nelson Roques of Lutcher; a sister, Theresa Miley of Baton Rouge; the joys of his life his two grandchildren, Jacob and Zoe Roques; as well as extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alban Joseph Roques, Sr and Aline Ordeneaux Roques; siblings, Sister Mary Juliana, Theophile, Pascal and Achille Roques and Irene Bourgeois.

EUNICE~It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Charles "Blaine" David announce his passing on Monday, July 11, 2016 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Blaine was a Detective for the St. Landry Parish Sheriff Office for 10 years. He loved his job but on his days off he was an outdoorsmen; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He had a huge sense of humor and his greatest passion and love was family. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, friend and co-worker and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his loving wife of 32 years, Sandra Young David of Eunice; his parents, Charles Lee and Ollie Richard David of Eunice; his son, Kenneth David and wife, Ashley of Eunice; his two daughters, Brandilyn David and wife, Alexis and Lacy Oliver and husband, Steven Oliver, Jr. all of Eunice; his brother, Blake David and wife, Rhonda of Eunice; the joys of his life his nine grandchildren, Kinsley, Trenton, Ashlyn, Steven III, Blaze, Ethan, Drew, Chris and Lilly. "While we are mourning the loss of a loved one, others are rejoicing to greet him."

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of all Saints Catholic Church at 10 AM with a burial to follow in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was a friend, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Shirley Ann Janot
Shirley Anne (Chaumont) Janot, 80, of Eunice, received her eternal reward on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. Shirley was born on December 16, 1935 in Eunice to Berchman & Hilda (Vidrine) Chaumont. She was a 1954 graduate of Eunice High School. After graduation she worked as a telephone operator for South Central Bell for many years. In 1970, together with her sons, Shirley and her husband, C.J., opened C.J.'s Mini-Chek grocery, a convenience store in Eunice which is still operated by two of her sons today. She is probably best remembered as "Mrs. Shirley" by her smiles and kindness shown to the many customers she served over the years. Shirley was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Eunice. Her favorite past time was playing slots at the area casinos and she developed quite the reputation for being especially successful at it.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, C.J. Janot, Jr., and her parents. She is survived by three sons, Kendall & wife Lena (Comeaux) of Eunice, Dr. Robert & wife Becky (Ogea) of Sulphur, and Brian of Eunice; three sisters, Gayle Granger of Katy, TX, Rhoda Huckaby of Eunice, and Maxine Clause of Spring, TX; grandchildren Mindy Janot of Eunice, Toby Janot of Plaisance, Dr. Adam Janot of Omaha, NE, Emily Porche' of Lake Charles, and Kayla Ogea of Sulphur, Sonny Cornellier & Skye Cornellia, both of Eunice; and four great grandchildren.

Winnie Mae "Mamie" Brown Sistrunk
Winnie Mae "Mamie" Brown Sistrunk, 87, of Eunice, LA, was carried on Angel's wings into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 30, 2016. Born January 11, 1929,
in Eunice, LA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Brown Sr. and Viola Andrus Brown and the widow of Milton Sistrunk. She grew up in the Richie community south of Eunice.
Being the oldest girl in her large farming family, she learned to cook at a young age, a well-crafted trait that family and friends enjoyed throughout her life. Many students of Eunice
remember her from her years as manager of Eunice Junior High lunchroom until she retired in the mid-80s.
If you entered Mamie's home, there was always food and coffee waiting. She was known as kind, compassionate and willing to help others. Through the years she was a Sunday school teacher,
youth leader, fundraiser (baked pies and organized bar-b-ques) for her church. She sang in several church quartets and small singing groups, and insisted her children learn how to play
something (piano, accordion, guitar, etc.) to always have music around her.
Mamie had an unwavering faith in God. She was a lifelong member of the United Pentecostal Church in Richie and Eunice. Along with her husband, Mamie was met at Heaven's gates by her
two sons, Donald Wayne Sistrunk and Emmett Lee Sistrunk, one daughter-in-law, Billie Sue Green Sistrunk, four brothers, Percy Brown, Lee Roy Brown, Charles Brown, Jr., and CJ Brown, three sisters,
Mary Alice Brown, Annie Lee Domingue, and Betty Jane Hebert, and her parents. Survivors include one son, Billy Russell Sistrunk (Ivy) of Eunice, two daughters, Beverly Claire Sistrunk
Bertrand of Eunice, Donna Sue Sistrunk LeJeune (Michael) of Lyman, SC, one daughter-in-law, Gloria Cannon Sistrunk Barnes (Bobby) of Tupelo, MS, one adopted son/great grandson, Taylor Arrant (Ansley) of Eunice, three sisters, Dorothy Spell of Baton Rouge, LA, Elaine Skinder of Macon, GA, and Judy Ann Pedigo of Lafayette, LA, one brother, Sammy Pedigo of Monroe, LA. Mamie is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Damen Sistrunk, Kim Ishee, Avonna Miller, Erika Simon, Jessica Sistrunk, Tabitha Franklin, Donzy Hux, Delia Holsombach, Amy Keys, Robbie LeJeune, Julia McCurdy, Pam Bourque, Ramona Ryder, Dana Gotte, and Cary Teal. She had 37 great grandchildren, and 12 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped care for mom in these last few months. We truly appreciate every kind word and deed to help our mom's transition to her heavenly home as smooth as possible.

Bianca enjoyed baby sitting, braiding hair, spending time with friends, but most of al being close to her family.

Crowley ~ Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for John Carrol Turner, 65, who passed away at his home in Crowley on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 9:40 am.
Rev. Orville Rogers, Pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Richard and Rev. Randy Paul, Pastor of Bible Missionary Church in Crowley will be officiating the services.
The family has requested visitation be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 9:00 am until time of service in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley.
Survivors include one sister, Loraine and husband, Blaine Keowen of Church Point; one brother, Tim and wife, Cheryl Turner of Richard; several nieces and one nephew.
Carrol was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Una B. Turner of Richard.

Viola D. Leckelt
IOTA~Our hearts are filled with sorrow as we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Viola D. Leckelt at the age of 59. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 03, 2016 at Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel in Iota with Pastor Donnie Venable officiating. Burial will follow in the Leckelt Cemetery.
Viola, loved all outdoor activities. Her friendliness and kindness to all people and her devotion and love for animals is a tribute to the beauty of her soul. Her inspiring presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known her especially her three sons, Scott J. Leger and wife, Brandy of Evangeline, Travis J. Leger of Sulphur and Jason Leckelt and wife, Alicia of Wilburton, OK; her four brothers, Butsy Louviere, Papoose Louviere, Larry Dietz, and Jessie Lee Dietz all of Evangeline; a sister, Diane Burton of Evangeline. The nine joys of her life her grandchildren, Leah Clement, Trevor Charles Leckelt, Alexia Charm Leckelt, Jayvon J. Leckelt, Bryson Blake Leckelt, Shelia Marie Leger, Saylor Lee Leger, Brent Michael Boudreaux and Todd Joseph Leger; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jason Leckelt, Sr.; daughter, Sheena Malyn Leckelt; parents, Roland and Francis Bergeaux Dietz; two sisters, Peggy Miller and Jackie Dietz.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Iota on Wednesday, August 3rd from 9:00 pm until time of services.
Jarai Rumel Andrus
CROWLEY ~ Visitation for Jarai Rumel Andrus will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm with funeral services following at 2:00 pm, both at Isrealite Baptist Church of Crowley. Rev. Ivan Lewis will officiate at the services. Interment will follow in the West Crowley Cemetery.
Jarai Rumel Andrus, age 21, passed away at American Legion Hospital in Crowley, Saturday, July 30, 2016.
Jarai enjoyed playing basketball, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Raymonda Andrus of Crowley; his father, Jonathan Moore of Crowley; three brothers: Jonathan Hamilton and Tromone Davis, both of Crowley, and Johnny Decluit of Branch; five sisters: Jaqueta Brown of Rayne, Derriana Windmon, Jonerra Martin, and Ja’niyah Moore, all of Crowley and Joani Moore of Atlanta, GA.
Jarai was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Moore and one brother, Jerrell Andrus, Sr.
Pallbearers will be: Bernard Wilridge, Brandon Nolan, Britian Nolan, Chandler Moore, Marquise Robinson, and Johnus Lambert.

John "Clyde" Mouton
LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for John “Clyde” Mouton, 59, who passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016. The Reverend Brian Taylor, Pastor at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will officiate the funeral ceremony.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Burgardt Mouton of Scott; one daughter, Natalie Mouton of Scott; his mother, Ella Lou B. Mouton Burgardt; one sister, Mona Siebert and her husband Larry of Eunice; one brother, Cedric Mouton and his wife Estella of Pharr, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one son, Dylan Mouton; and his father, John Berchman Mouton.
Mr. Mouton loved horses his entire life. He was a people person, and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Visitation hours will be observed on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and will resume on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Inez Adele Guidry Montz
LAFAYETTE ~ A native of Reserve, Louisiana and longtime resident of Eunice and Lafayette, Inez Adele Guidry Montz passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016.
Inez was born on October 27, 1916, and grew up on Terre Haute Plantation as a daughter of sugar cane farmers. She graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau in 1934 and in 1938 she married Elmore Montz, Sr. Shortly thereafter they moved to Eunice where they owned and operated the Roosevelt Restaurant for 23 years. Her delicious pies were customer favorites. Besides her contributions to running the Roosevelt, she was a housewife and mother managing the job of raising nine children.
In 1986, she and her husband moved from Eunice to Lafayette to be near their children.
Inez was a wonderful Cajun cook and enjoyed nothing more than to prepare a meal of fresh food for her family. She loved to be outdoors enjoying nature’s simple beauty. For countless years she picked and cleaned pecans to share with her family and friends until her fingers could no longer manage the task.
Inez is survived by her nine children Elmore, Jr., (Cecile) Mary Virginia LeDoux, Ruth Nelson (Bruce), Jebby (Margaret), Madeleine Mouton (Francis), Charlie (Charlene), Tommy (Carla), Lulu Veron (Ronnie), Mimi Anderson (Steve); 30 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren, and one sister, Theresa Hotard.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years; her parents, Edwin Sr. and Eva Guidry; nine brothers; one sister; granddaughter, Melissa Marie Montz, and daughter-in-law, Clare Francois Montz.
Private funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers with Interment at Fountain Memorial Cemetery.
The family extends a wholehearted thank you to the entire staff at Bethany Health Care Center for their care and kind support during the last few years of her life.
